Florida Gov Debate

Maybe in your mind, not in mine. I probably have at least 20 years more time living in Florida than either Gillum or Desantis. Whatever went down between a lobbyist, an undercover FBI agent and Gillum, you certainly did not provide a credible explanation that clearly implicates Gillum of unethical or illegal behavior.

I believe Gillum has considerably more integrity, more political competence and a greater capacity to improve the common welfare of Floridians than Desantis (a Chump acolyte). I can't prove it... and I didn't need to prove it to vote. I consider Gillum, by far, the better choice. This time around I have already voted for him. Governor Gillum has a really nice sound to it... don't you think? Big Grin!

I contrasted the amount of money involved with a Hamilton ticket and a vacation to Costa Rica with the amount of taxpayer money Desantis apparently spent on travel. The former probably added up to at most a few thousand dollars; the latter added up to about $145,000.

I am planning to vote against DeSantis and Scott tomorrow.

Then your position is that the Democratic candidate is less of a crook than the Republican candidate

More Smiles! Maybe in your mind, not in mine. I think during Gillum's childhood in Miami, he spent a lot of time with a loving wise grandmother... who would routinely beat the Devil outta him. Gillum transitioned into an educated man (FAMU grad) with high moral character.

Desantis, on the other hand, spent the major part of his childhood living near Clearwater. He played on a World Champion Little League team. He went on to graduate Yale, then Harvard Law. He served in the Navy from 2004-10. During his privileged life he became a Disciple of Satan and, later, a Chump Acolyte.

This battle pits the Forces of Good, represented by Gillum, against the Forces of Evil, represented by Desantis.

Why do you appear to favor Evil Desantis?

what does the FBI agent say about the disposition of that hamilton ticket?
ditto for the vacation excursions taken with the candidate

I am much more concerned with all the money DeSantis took from Big Sugar. We have had a string of Reps. that all are in their pocket. Sugar farming is costing us millions in tourist dollars by polluting lake Okeechobee with fertilizer runoff causing red tide and algae blooms that litter our beaches with dead fish. The Sugar farms must go, their is a worldwide glut of sugar and big sugar have a sweetheart deal that makes them millions while costing consumers billions in high priced sugar.

why would a person of high moral character, who is an elected official, choose to accept personal favors from a lobbyist and a developer (the latter of whom turned out to be an FBI agent)?
such behavior does not correlate with "high moral character"

de santis is an asshole. and likely more crooked than gillum is now indicated to be

thus far it shows two politicians who are willing to sell their elected office for personal gain

Why do you appear to favor Evil Desantis?
i don't favor de santis
i was excited that gillum won the demo candidacy ... at least until it appeared that he has no good answer for accepting personal favors from a lobbyist and a perceived developer
i would be delighted if gillum would offer a sound answer for the acceptance of personal favors. in the absence of which, i must conclude he is just another corrupt politician

and until he offers a sound explanation for realizing personal gain from a lobbyist and perceived developer, it would appear gillum is just another corrupt politician willing to sell his office for personal benefit

I believe in the current political climate the people tasked with determining whether to prosecute Gillum would have pursued prosecution against him if they thought it would result in a conviction. You postulate Gillum engaged in behavior inconsistent with high moral character. I postulate the FBI primarily targeted the lobbyist, not Gillum; the deception used by the FBI agent mucked up the sting.

Wasn't he a horrible mayor?

Team Desantis would like Florida voters to think so. Team Gillum's success at the ballot box suggests otherwise.

I believe Team Desantis tends to conflate Leon County statistics with Tallahassee statistics in an attempt to cast Team Gillum in an unfavorable light.

and none of that absolves gillum of accepting personal gain from a lobbyist/perceived developer while an elected official

gillum's election will be tainted unless he comes forward with a sound explanation for his actions

Not that I approve of it. We have a long history and proclivity for tainted elections in Florida. 58 outta 67 counties went Trump in 2016. GW took Florida's 29 EVs in 2000 with a little help from Jeb, a little lady named Katherine and an over-the-top decision from a Conservative-leaning USSC.

Hell, we have a city in Hernando County called Brooksville named after a famous segregationist and Congressman in the 1850s named Preston Brooks. Rep. Brooks in 1856 used his cane to nearly beat a Massachusetts abolitionist Senator to death in the old Senate Gallery. Brooks made his South Carolina district proud! They reelected him.

Electing Gillum as Governor would personify a new era in Florida much like the election of Obama as POTUS personified a new era in the United States.

Allies of Desantis would have pursued the prosecution of Gillum if those Desantis allies thought their efforts would eventually result in a conviction.

appears gillum knew the source of the hamilton tickets
explains why his explanations have been so lacking

Pretty weak from what I read. A GOP Lawyer and Operative, Chris Kise, releases texts ahead of the election. Can you point to a specific text or act that implicates Gillum in wrongdoing? In Florida, like Washington DC, politicians and lobbyists routinely cozy up whenever they think they can get away with it.

you know that and i know that ... now why didn't the ****ing candidate know that

Back to that evidence you never provided that would clearly criminally implicate Gillum and based on my research, I had no issue with choosing Gillum over Racist Desantis. I consider Gillum the obvious better choice.

Do you have a particular Governor or Gubernatorial candidate you can point to as a shining example of virtue? I use a less exacting standard than you do. Thank you for your interest in Florida politics!
