For the Florida politicos: The name Marion Hammer has come up recently in the news. There is an article about her and Florida's gun legislation in the current New Yorker magazine. I read that article and googled a few others. Florida lawmakers seem not to make any moves re gun legislation or oppose any that Ms. Hammer backs. What I cannot seem to find is the source of her influence. Is it money, political alliances, dirt collected on people? Ms. Hammer seems to be an immovable force in Florida politics and I'd like to know why.
TIA

As I posted, I have searched and read a few articles, 20+ years in the NRA translates to what in Fla. politics? I also saw that she served as past president of the organization. Please point out in the link you provided, the answer to my question.

since you missed it the first time:

More comprehension, less snark is your friend!

Past President of the National Rifle Association ; SO she has a lot of political connections and still has influential friends in Washington DC.

To COMPREHEND ----- her past lobbying job, past President of the NRA .... as well as a long list of friends in the sunshine State ; make her a powerful person. Marion was greatly loved by millions of people when she had the reins at the NRA ; not counting lawyers, politicians and corporate big wigs. A great number of people would still go to the gates of *ell for her.

Marion is a hard worker, and dedicated to the Second Amendment. She fights, and backs up what she says. Probably one of..... or the best we had in the NRA leadership. Dedicated and true...... sincere and professional ---- she took her job at the NRA as sincere as sincere could get.

Marion Hammer is very much a influential powerhouse. I would also venture to say..... people still owe her favors.
