Cruz, Texans accused of hypocricy on Harvey aid

Pork for aid isn't neccessaey its disgusting
:roll:
Pork--any funds not going to Texas.

Necessity--any funds going to Texas.

More than 20 Texas representatives and senators voted against Sandy aid. How will they vote on Harvey? - LA Times

Especially when it's based on a lie. Cruz and co weren't against helping, it was the nature of the bill presented. And that was WELL AFTER the storm relief, not during the storm. So this whole thread stinks of IT.

So as long as they wait for the storm to be over, it's all OK to you?

Texas loves to play the "we don't need you" card, but you can bet Cruz will be on the Senate floor begging for the Feds to help.

Right, I'm sure every dime going to Texas will be pork-free. Your politicians are different and we all know that a Republican has never done anything that wasn't above board and completely clean.

Reality is something foreign to Cruz and and his defenders.

Cruz doesn't get to have the first and last lie, first bringing Sandy into the Texas catastrophe. Neither do GOP partisans ...

You believe massive pork is aid... you don't get to talk about reality.

This criticism is coming from GOPs, as well as DEMs to a lesser extent. I would add that infrastructure was rarely a problem until the US House changed hands in 2011.

Will Texas Rep. Hensarling push for off-sets as he has for 6+ years? Cruz is still playing historical revision with Sandy aid ...

Well, at least someone is getting some measure of satisfaction out of the Texas flood.

This is why you don't vote against sending disaster relief to another state - the entire purpose of the union is to scratch each other's backs.

Seven endless bogus wars of occupation and the economic exploitation of others, $611B military budget (that is made visible to the public), and we cannot seem to ever handle a seasonal recurring theme. Reckon it ain't on the donor class' wish list.

Which wouldn't be me with your 'victim' card; since your senator started this OP by lying again about Sandy relief;

23 of 24 Texas congressmen and both your senators played politics with Sandy aid; this according to 'Sandy' Republican lawmakers of course ;;;

Yep, definitely satisfied. Pretty sure it was you who started the OP of this thread but I'll look again.

GOP Rep. Culbertson of the swingy TX 7th was the only TX congressman to vote yes for Sandy aid. Nice politics there.

When a lying Senator like Cruz starts lying again about Sandy aid, you bet it's a rational topic for an OP.

Lyin Ted, trump's name for him of course, has 2 GOP primary opponents and then O'Rourke in the general ...

Where's the beef on your accusations of pork ???

Ted Cruz: 2013 hurricane relief bill 'filled with pork' - CNNPolitics
"Every Republican, including Texas Republicans, agreed that hurricane funding is an important and critical role for the federal government," Cruz said. But Cruz added that his concern was that the 2012 bill became "a $50 billion bill filled with pork and unrelated spending that wasn't hurricane relief."
"It was simply local members of Congress spending on their pet projects and two-thirds of what was spent in that bill had little or nothing to do with Hurricane Sandy," Cruz said to CNN's Jim Acosta during "Wolf" on Monday.

A good opportunity for some perceived payback no doubt.

Democrats and rational GOPs don't behave like your TX delegation on federal disaster relief;

as we've already heard from both; you know, the rational GOPs quoted in the OP link ;;;

And yet you still can't detail the pork; either because you don't know the details of Sandy aid or because you do and know every dime spent was DIRECTLY tied to Sandy ;;;
Why, you might ask, would the Senate be packing billions of taxpayer dollars for these areas of the country that are nowhere near the devastation brought about by superstorm Sandy into a bill designed to bring relief to those suffering from the storm that ripped the northeastern part of the nation?

Lets be honest, that **** went out the window over a decade ago.

A review of the mark-up of the Senate bill reveals that all that extra, non-Sandy related cash is actually set to provide billions for “storm events that occurred in 2012 along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast within the boundaries of the North Atlantic and Mississippi Valley divisions of the Corps that were affected by Hurricanes Sandy and Isaac."

The answer can be found in a quick review of the states that are set to benefit from the Senate’s extra-special benevolence—states including Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.
What, you may ask, do these states far from New York and New Jersey have in common?
Each is not only a red state, but each of these states are represented by two Republican senators—with the exception of Louisiana with its one GOP senator.
"We have other important things to do here in the Senate. We have -- we're going on almost two months now without giving relief to the northeast who were struck by that violent storm, Sandy. 700,000 or 800,000 homes destroyed in New Jersey and New York alone. When Irene struck, we acted very quickly. We didn't wait and say, well let's see, Alabama has two Republican senators, Mississippi has two Republican senators, Texas has two Republican senators, Louisiana has one Republican senator,"

The pork was a necessity to bribe GOP lawmakers, including those from Texas, into passing any sort of disaster relief.

If the Hurricane Harvey relief bill is full of pork as were the Sandy relief packages you'll have a point, until then you have nothing.

It was Sen. Cruz who 'went there' two days ago with his dishonest historical revision of Sandy aid DURING the catastrophic Texas floods ...

What "historical revision" ?? the Sandy relief bills were full of pork.

The ironic thing is that so will the bills for this storm. You'll faithfully stick your fingers in your ears, but it will be there.

We, you, etal don't know what may or may not be in the Hurricane Harvey relief bill/s. Until that time comes and votes pro and con are recored all this hypocrisy talk (actually double standards) is meaningless partisan BS.

Yep, I remember that. And also for YEARS after Katrina the Republicans in those States went back to the Feds year after years with their hands out begging for more and more money. But when Sandy hit the Northeast those same Republicans voted AGAINST giving Aid to NY and NJ.

They are all for States rights and the States taking care of themselves until it's their states that need help. The GOP is filled with assholes, from top to bottom.

That said I hope politics is pushed aside here and Texas gets all the help FROM THE FEDS that they need. I would never want to be seen as petty and unfeeling as the Republican a'holes in Congress.

Ease up dude, not everyone voted against disaster relief. We all pay taxes that fund this stuff, okay?
