Last I heard from local police that are friends of mine: Tim was shot in his right shoulder and the Subclavian Artery was severed. The artery was clamped which cut off blood flow to his right arm which means if he lives that he will probably lose his right arm. He flat lined and had no blood flow at all to his brain for a long period of time. He currently has no brain activity at all. Tim's K9 partner (Cinco) is missing, and they don't know if he ran away or if the bastard that shot Tim took him. Tim's mother's Facebook page had to be taken down due to people posting hateful things about police, saying they are glad he was shot, hoping that Tim dies, and so on. The bastard that shot Tim is still at large.

Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot

Shelby, North Carolina – Shelby Police Department Officer Tim Brackeen was found by other officers after he was shot on Saturday night.

At this time, very few details about the shooting have been released. The officer’s mother, Phyllis Brackeen released the following updates on Facebook:

First, i want to say that i am so thankful that we serve an powerful God who never makes a mistake. I’m also thankful for many prayer warriors.
Specific prayer request for Tim, our son who was shot early this am: 1) that he makes it through this. 2) that there will not be brain damage (he was without oxygen for a good while), and 3) that he will not loose his right arm (they had to clamp the artery to stop the bleeding). He is currently on life support and they are having to keep his chest open.

Your prayers mean more than we can express.

The doctor said his brain shows no activity, etc. If he pulls thru this, it will only be because God steps in and does the impossible. But God can. This is a deep valley for us, but even in the valley, God is g [d.

They thought Tim would never make it to the first hospital. They thought he would never stabilize enough to transport. They thought he would never make it to the hospital in Charlotte. They thought he wouldn’t make it through the night. Then we were told he wouldn’t be able to make it through surgery. They are all amazed. Our God has shown Himself so strong and so merciful on our behalf. But… the prognosis is not good (but God is!)

Every hour is critical. His brain is still not functioning. That is our main request at this point.

He has several serious hurdles ahead, but right now, we are praying that God would do the miraculous again and restore his brain function.

Shelby Police Department released the following statement:

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, the Shelby Police Department had an officer shot in the line of duty. At approximately 12:21am Officer Tim Brackeen was in the area of Parkview Street looking for a subject who was wanted on outstanding warrants. Shortly after arriving on scene officers in the area heard shots fired. When officers went to Officer Bracken’s location they found he had been injured.

At this point the investigation is still in its infancy stage, so details of the incident are not complete. A release will be given out later as more details emerge. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.

Officer Brackeen was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center and then taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment. His condition at this time is stable but critical.

Officer Brackeen has been with the Shelby Police Department since July, 2004 and is currently assigned as a K9 Officer for the department. Officer Brackeen is 38 years old, married and has one daughter.

At this time our department asks for everyone to keep Officer Brackeen, his family and the entire department in their thoughts and prayers.

If anyone has any information concerning this case they are asked to contact the Shelby Police Department at (704) 484-6845 or CrimeStoppers at (704) 481-TIPS (8477).

Officer Backeen is married and has one daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Tim Brackeen and his family.

I don't know enough about the circumstances to comment upon them - but I can say that if it's true there's been a long period of no brain activity, sadly we are looking at a murder case.

My thoughts & prayers are with the family and his brother officers.

Prayers on the way.

People are just assholes these days, and use broad brushes when painting everything.

That seems to be the consensus, that the charges will inevitably be upgraded to 1st Degree Murder of a Police Officer.

I've met the officer before, but can't say I know him. I have LEO friends that are friends with him, and that's still too close for my comfort. Tim was Officer of the Year in 2012, and people in EVERY neighborhood like the guy. From what I've been told, the people in the neighborhood where this happened are doing everything they can to help the police catch the bastard. All the hateful crap being said about the officer is coming from people outside the area and from people that don't even know him - which for some reason just pisses me the hell off more than it probably should.

I spent most of my teen years in Kings Mountain. Shelby was our main rival. This is so sad.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow officers. Hopefully they will catch the scumbag and give him what he has earned, a short walk down a hall to meet his maker.

You would be surprised and heartbroken to see how violent certain areas of both Shelby and Kings Mountain have gotten in the last few years. Many young people just don't seem to care if they harm other people or other people's property - they especially don't have any respect for the police or any form of authority. In this particular event, the older people in those areas are helping the police and are very upset by this as well.

The young people? Not so much. That - - - is very sad.

He's a cop so can we be sure there wasn't any brain activity before he was shot?

My thoughts and prayers are with the man falsely being accused of unlawful activity when it's more likely he was defending himself from a thug with a badge and a uniform.

And just like that, Reinoe proves why the soverign citizens movement will never get any political power.

i sincerely hope this was a misplaced and misfired attempt at humor

I find it amazing that the anominity of the internet causes people to say things that they would never have the corruage to say to anybodies face.

It also amazes me that they seem to think that they look in any way good for doing this. Clearly everybody here now considers Reino a xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxx ( I removed the words after thinking about it and considering the rules, but any will do). Why would Reino want that? I ask the wider audience since I don't expect any decent responce from the child in question.

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

Whatever negative views I might have of the Police as an institution, and I have a lot, the fact remains is it is made up of individual human beings with families. And we all need to have empathy for our fellow humans or this planet is just going to become a crappier and crappier place to live. My thoughts are with this officer and his family and I hope the shooter is brought to justice.

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

The only update available, for those that are interested, was from 9:30pm last night, nothing new so far this morning. Tim is still alive, but also still in critical condition - Officer Brackeen remains in critical condition

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

Post number 8 in this thread will be remembered by me. If it was written in an unfortunate failure of an attempt at humor, then I would hope that fact would be posted by the author so we can all know that and think better of the author. If not, again, that post will be remembered by me.

It just goes to show that some people are too partisan blind to actually care about the truth. And even if it was a "joke" it was a sick one that does not deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt. Nor does it deserve anymore attention/response in this thread imo.

Sorry to hear and I in no way wish ill on cops but if I read you right you don't know him. You seem to be taking this very personally but I doubt you've mad similar comments in regards to people executed by police.

This has to be the biggest asshole post I have ever read.

The pathetic humor is absolutely inappropriate.

Offering prayers for this piece of **** that shot the cop is ****ing disgusting.

One of the worst posts I've read here or on any other forum. You need to take a long hard look at yourself and figure out where you went so wrong...:(

Re: Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen Shot - North Carolina

Yish - wife & daughter, too.

I've met him and his family. I can't say I know them, but it's still hitting close to home. Maybe because I have good friends that were close to him, and are taking this pretty hard right now. Also, I may be a bit more invested than I would normally be because he reminded me of a friend I lost in combat overseas, and Tim was lost here at home from domestic combat and there's not a damned thing I can do about either one.

It's sad. It hurts. And it infuriates me that actions like this are becoming more acceptable and even applauded within a growing portion of our society.

Not only that he didn't deserve to be killed, his wife and child did not deserve to lose their husband and Dad. He was serving our community. All of us, regardless of the city, or county, or state that we live within. When he was attacked and murdered, we were all attacked, and part of US was murdered.

Are we all attacked and murdered when the police shoot someone in the back? Me thinks you don't think so.
