Looks like Matt Bevin- a wealthy GOP businessman and "Outsider" has beaten Dem Party man Jack Conway (two time KY AG)

this was seen as a toss up election and Conway was leading in most of the polls by 3-6%

Dems attacked Bevin as being a wealthy investor while Conway was saddled with being called an Obama clone: an argument that had little merit other than him being a Democrat

Bevin publicly supported that rogue clerk (gay marriage issue) and said he'd end the Obamacare exchange in KY

apparently the ties to Obama were lethal to Conway

Such a shame.. Bevin is the last thing Kentucky needs. The fact he supports Kim Davis is disturbing to say the least. Also, ending the exchange? God..

Bevin will now compete with Brownback to be the worst governor in the Nation.

The TEAt party won this one, with the usual pitiful DEM turnout in odd-numbered years.

When they couldn't win these elections during Presidential years, just change the rules GOP.

And of course, the GOP is the party of term limits, the only way they could get rid of Beshear .

he was wrong on that issue but right on others. it was a split decision in KY with Alison Laughingstock Grimes winning her election. the class warfare crap thrown at Bevin by the Democrap machine failed.

sour grapes I see

It appears that the Lt Governor is the first AA elected to a state wide office. Conway gave a classy concession speech. the Dems were hoping to get a winner to run against Rand Paul-didn't happen. The outgoing Dem governor's son Andy Beshear did win the AGs office by about 2000 votes over what appeared to be a rather pathetic GOP candidate but the Dems also lost another office they had in the Auditor IIRC. GOP thus won 4/6 statewide offices up for grabs with only AL Grimes and Beshear winning for the democrats

this is why voters should be responsible thru reparations. They elect a governor who vows to violate federal law and supports a public official who violated a supreme court ruling and court order. They deserve to be left in 3rd world status

It won't make any difference in reality because the courts will shut him down at every turn, but just the fact they attempt it is revolting

yeah the whole world turns on gay marriage. Its amazing our nation lasted as long as it did

lol you don't think that's how he won and how MANY repubs won elections the past decade? All they had to do was blurt out "i hate fags" and the bigot vote would turn out at record numbers, so clearly the whole world does turn on it. If it weren't the south and the timing of it, i wouldn't be so skeptical of their motives.

Now where do you see a recent incident in that state related to obamacare that would suggest that has anything to do with the outcome? That there's fewer uninsured?

He mentioned obama? Great, i'm sure the repub candidate 4 years ago didn't try the same thing, so i doubt that explains it either

And i'm amazed someone who supposedly used to work in a courtroom and stands blindly behind the constitution in every gun control thread would be so flippant about kim davis' actions and the support she's gotten from the governor elect and the voters

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. Bevin was mainly attacked for being rich and allegedly not paying his taxes. Conway was attacked for being an Obama Rubber stamp. both were stupid IMHO

you said yourself bevin supported kim davis, while the dem governor ordered her to do her job or resign and refused to call the emergency session, and conway himself as AG didn't appeal the circuit court ruling. You really don't think that enticed the holy roller loons into voting on an off year?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...icals-in-low-turnout-kentucky-governors-race/

"As Bevin traversed the Bluegrass State the past few days, his body man handed out postcards that described him as “the only candidate for governor that has stood up for traditional marriage and religious liberty.”"

do you actually have a point to make or are you upset that Conway was beaten?

his point is that you have none, unless it's to gloat over the kentucky inbreeders electing a world class bigot as their governor

so in your mind-all that matters-in a state you don't live in is gay marriage

ok we get that.

no, i think it a complete disgrace that an entire state of 3 million can't do better than to elect a prejudiced asshole as its leader and in fact elects him only because he's a prejudiced asshole.

50 years ago i'd be saying the very same thing about alabama/george wallace

whatever.

ok i accept your concession

I am laughing how you make a minor issue all that matters. and yes to most people, its a minor issue.

really kentucky can't do better than a prejudiced asshole as its leader? Is that what you're saying? That really doesn't reflect well on them

to most people confiscating guns is a minor issue and i laugh at your conniptions at the slightest suggestion of that

GOP dark money at the end made the difference. Quite the process you defend, since you support Citizens Divided .

actually there are far more gun owners than people who think gay marriage is all that matters. and in the grand scheme of things-how a politician feels about gay marriage rates really low on my chart and probably most peoples' charts. and like it or not-people can oppose gay marriage without being "prejudiced assholes" as you call them.

sour grapes still? Conway wasn't exactly a dynamite candidate. and his arguments against Bevin were nothing more than one rich establishment politician bashing a rich businessman. pretty lame

If that's what you want to term undeniable statements of fact.

Why are GOPs afraid of gubernatorial elections on Presidential years?

High voter turnout has never been the friend of the GOP.

As Nixon first stated for the GOP, drive up their negatives and drive down their voting.

The GOP--the party of voter suppression.

KY have been mostly electing DEMOCRAT governors-all but 2 in the last 4 decades. So what sort of psychobabble are you spewing.
