Furries: Inside a misunderstood culture - CNN

I noticed that media seems to be more accepting of furries, than in the past, which i refer to as the CSI era for lack of a better term.

I think it's partly from this guy who does PR work for furries and instructs them on what to say when they go to the media.

And he isn't afraid to tell it like it is, he once referred to someone who appeared in a 2001 article that made furries look bad as "[the furry fandom's] crazy Uncle Frank that the kids aren’t allowed to talk to"

Stuff like this just makes my hair stand up!

Good grief, does every ****ed up fetish have to be legitimatized and have a “community”?

C'mon. You've seen Animal Ear Girl pictures that made you happy inside.

The furries just run with it.

Furry for most nowadays is like cosplay. I know of some kids and such who are in it only for the costuming and stay away from the adult side. I know of a thing on twitter of some kids breaking away from furry and calling themselves fluffies and trying to create a sfw place

This is what happens after several generations of "if it feels good do it" gets us. Lunacy.

Your username is especially suspicious in this thread.

Somethings are better kept as shameful secrets.

Hmm. I need to search this one out on the porn hub sites.

The deity-worship fetish has had them for centuries so why shouldn't everyone else?

I think though that furry is slowing becoming mainstream, someone from something awful admitted something i have always known. That the backlash against furries was motivated solely by Homophobia

A rapper recently said they wanted a fursuit.

A member of ICP has a furry daughter.

Arizona state rep Kelly Townsend asked what furries are and looks like she has embraced it.

The fetish part isn't everything. Just like any other form of cosplay. People dress up like Star wars characters or Vulcans. And all sorts of other things.

Use this as a springboard to do some googling. The community attracts predators and weirdos.

I'm not saying the kids are weirdos. They're just introverted nerds looking to connect with other non-violent betas for human contact.

I'm just saying that these needy-vulnerable young people are ripe to be abused or killed by whacko's that smell an opportunity.

It's the dad in me talking.

Every community attracts creeps and weirdos. Should we avoid all human interaction because of that?

LOL. You really felt compelled to respond, did you? Furry at your own risk, man. Just a heads up.

Stay furry, my friend!

We are all at risk. Isn't that what the government tells us, to stay at home? But we still go out. Life is a risk. We each have to figure it out for ourselves.

Yup. I might be younger than most people on here. But i remember when i was growing up around the 90s or so my parents told me to not get involved in Dungeons and dragons due to the fact that there was some people who did a murder that was partly blamed on D&D

I also know stories where at every anime con, has this really old dude who calls every girl their waifu, and creeps who try to pass themselves off as photographers, but actually try to upskirt at a anime con. I think too that Catholic priests/ministers/rabbies,school teachers, little league coaches, school teachers and even family members been arrested for the exact same thing. I would watch a kid around any Catholic priest, little league coach and such.

Yeah, okay. May the fur be with you.

Have a furry day!

At least the furries were wearing masks before it was cool.

Says the Cowboys fan.....

But in all seriousness, yeah there is a community for everything. NASCAR community, Sci-fi community, Kink community, indie community, and the list goes on. And each one has subcommunities. Welcome to human nature.

The "yiffing" and such is a subcommunity of the Furry community. Kids have long been a part of the overall.

Predators are pretty much in every community. Fandom, kink, sports, academia, you name it. Fact of life.
