In 9 months are we going to see a baby boom from being sequestered in the house with our loved ones?

So we are going to see a lot of incestual sex and babies produced by incest?

Actually, I suspect a lot of couples are avoiding that stuff right now out of fear of giving the virus to each other. I predict the opposite is going to be the case.

"But kissing a partner, of course, is far more intimate than a random peck on the cheek. While it makes sense that kissing someone infected with COVID-19 could leave you infected, “at this point in time, we don’t know these specific details,” says Dr. Englund. What we do know is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the virus can spread from “close contact” with someone, with close contact generally defined as being within six feet of a person. If you’re kissing or having sex, well, you’re well within this limit...and potentially at risk if your partner carries the virus."

I was thinking spouse, but you do you.

Why would people think their spouse has the virus?

Either a baby boom or the divorce rate hits 600%

Why would people think their spouse has the virus?

Because you can be completely asymptomatic and carrying the virus and spreading it around for over 2 wks before you come down with the symptoms. Some people go around shedding virus for a long time without ever getting the symptoms themselves. That's one of the things which has made this virus so particularly easily spread around. There seems to be a lot of idiosyncracy in the way different people's immune systems respond to this virus, for reasons we don't understand. Age seems to be a factor, with older people having more severe reactions, but certainly not the only one, as I am sure you have heard. They recently reported a previously healthy 4-month-old who died of it.

This is a very tricky virus.

Well that was rather dark. I'm guessing that you are discounting married couples.

Why wouldn't they, especially if the spouse was either in a high risk field or area? My thought is that if I have it then my spouses are going to get it too.

in 13 years, we can call them quaren'teens

More babies
More divorces
More alcoholics
More drug addicts
More people gaining weight

A lot of people will come out of this much worse. Some will come out better.

Likely, especially with the looming condom shortage. Latex is needed for protective gloves of another sort. Stuck at home, with nothing to do other than daytime TV, time for a matinee. Lock the bedroom door and the let kids kill each other. Love has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, our bedroom door does not have a lock, and some of the grandkids are sprawled on our bed with their laptops and iPads. My wife is developing a very crazy look in her eyes. It's been a few days, :)

Let me ask my wife. She probably doesn't want me visiting anyone else.

You are underestimating the powers of lust. Besides, being in the same home all day, all night, the virus will easily be transmitted by one to another without the intimacy of sex.

That's the problem with solving southern Indiana murders, the DNA of the suspects is identical.

RE: not having sex due to concerns of virus transmission

True. But that doesn't make it safe to have sex. The more the isolation, the lower the risk of transmission. Ideally, the 6-feet social isolation rule applies to couples in a house as well.

It's a little like telling teenagers not to have sex because they may get STDs or get pregnant. It's going to be hard to get them to stop. But that doesn't mean they are not going to get STDs or get pregnant. It just is what it is.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Much like the baby boom that followed 9 months after the lights went out in NYC some years ago. I think there was even a movie about the phenomenon.

Glad to see that there are still Pollyannas in the world.

~ Ha ha . Dr. Oz says "Have sex. It is relaxing and will relieve stress."
