Australia charges Singapore man with importing childlike sex doll from China

A 26 year old Singaporean student in Australia is currently facing criminal charges for importing a childlike sex doll from China. If found guilty, he could spend 10 years in prison and/or face a hefty fine.

What do you think of the matter? Should child sex dolls be prohibited or should they be allowed? Obviously child porn should remain illegal because an actual child is being sexually abused in the making but what about dolls which involve no child abuse?

Have we extended human rights to drugs and illegal weapons? Have we extended human rights to counterfeit money? Those are banned. Your logic is flawed and in support of child porn. If you're gonna support child porn, at least employ solid logic.

I think this kind of thing encourages pedophiles to act out on their urges so needs to be illegal. I'm kind of surprised someone is making them. Are they legal in China or only exported?
 
These sex dolls could have kept many Catholic priests out of trouble.

With that logic, violent video games encourage people to be violent. Of course if you actually look at the stats, violent crime has decreased from 30 years ago.

The reason why child porn is illegal is to avoid the commercialization of child sexual abuse and to prevent victims from having to relive the traumatic memories by seeing the images. This is not the case with sex dolls or animation because no child is abused in the process.

If violent crime has decreased, why would you say video games encourage violence?
Oh, wait, you think what people do with their thumbs on a screen somehow translates into the real world. Is that right? You think people who don't have a propensity for violence will be changed and develop it because of the games they play, is that it?
See the difference? People who buy violent video games aren't necessarily violent but anyone who buys a sex toy doll modeled after a child is a pedophile. You agree?

While having a child sex doll may say something about who you are, it still doesn't prove that such raises the likelihood of someone molesting a child. Besides, not all child molesters are pedophiles, some are doing it for the power dynamic.

So you are of the opinion pedophiles will just naturally suppress their sexual urges deep inside and ignore them? Are dolls the gateway drug of pedophilia?

I'm of the opinion that pedophiles who would suppress their urges and make a normal life might be triggered by the availability of those dolls, yeah. You don't agree?

I think one could argue if they have no way to release that sexual tension then the temptation to do something horrible only increases. I don't know about this whole 'make a normal life' thing. Pedophiles aren't normal. They will always be pedophiles. Rather them play out their twisted fantasies on an inanimate object.

Well, that's the other thing. Maybe if those dolls were a therapeutic tool.
My wife used to work for Corrections as a caseworker in a halfway house and she had lots of sex offenders over the years. Some were making a sincere effort, others were ticking time bombs. Maybe those dolls would, in some cases, be useful but I'm worried that it might be step one for a pedophile to begin acting out. Especially a young one who has only fantasized so far.
