That's a very abbreviated version of what the guidelines say, and it's not about discriminating against people who are trans, but allowing doctors to decide whether or not they want to give hormones to someone. Many people object to the practice, and look what the NHS is doing- medical experimentation and coercion of children, which may cause further damage. We don't want that here.

Now you're lumping lesbians, gays, and bi people in with trans, who represent the smallest portion of the LGBT community. Most homeless people aren't LGBT, so let's not ignore them. California has nearly 1/2 homeless people in the entire country, so let's not pretend that Republicans are to blame here. The liberals and progressives in this state talk a great game about caring for homeless people, but don't care enough to do anything for them. Most volunteers who work with the homeless are Christians, guided by their faith.

No one should suffer abuse, however the USA is not like places in the Middle East where LGBT are chucked off rooftops. We have a system in place to deal with physical abuse. Most assaults are treated as misdemeanors and many felony assaults are reduced. That is a problem with the criminal justice system.
Maybe this has something to do with the fact that 1 in 5 transgender individuals work in the sex trade during their lives. It's a dangerous business, surrounded by drug addiction and mental illness. One trans woman said she was repeatedly raped and molested as a boy in her native country, before coming to America to work as a trans prostitute. He said that had he not been raped as a boy, he felt he wouldn't have drifted into the trans lifestyle and prostitution. Protecting children is the real issue here, and we're just not that committed to doing so. That's the real tragedy.
