Georgia school district reverses transgender-friendly bathroom policy after death threats - CNN
A Georgia school district has reversed its transgender-friendly bathroom policy after board members, staff and students were threatened, the school board said in a news release.

Pickens County School Board changed its policy this week, citing "death threats, student harassment and vandalism of school property" in the news release.

The policy had allowed transgender students to use restrooms that aligned with their gender identity instead of a single-stall, gender-neutral bathroom, according to CNN affiliate WSB.

The board voted to reverse the policy in an emergency meeting called by Superintendent Carlton Wilson, WSB reported.

"The District understands and acknowledges that it has the responsibility to protect its staff and students. However, the District has concerns that it may not be able to meet these recently increased demands," the school board's release said, adding that the reversal is in place until law enforcement and safety professionals can be adequately consulted.

Did anyone expect no backlash? This issue hasn't gotten a chance to breathe or to be thoroughly debated. It's just been shoved down the throats of parents and citizens everywhere.

Forcing normal children to use the bathroom where the opposite sex is present is messing with them.

Even if that were true, how does that make death threats a reasonable expectation as a result? Should children be forced to use the bathroom with people who want them dead?
 
Equip schools with sufficient numbers of unisex bathrooms. Don't know if your gender matches what's between your legs? Use unisex. This whole, "Pick whatever bathroom/locker room/shower you think you might identify with, or whatever sex you're trying on this week", has to stop in schools.

Like the Civil Rights Act, the 14th Amdnement and the Civil War that racist bigots still haven gotten over?

Transgendered kids aren't a problem and they never were because there has never been an instance of a transgendered person sexuality assaulted anyone when they used the bathroom of their identity. It is your ignorance that is the problem. The GOPP knows this and stokes the fires and then stands back while innocent people get hurt.

Trans people aren't confused. It is people like you who are ignorant. They know that their psychological gender identity doesn't match their biological gender. Stop getting your news from Hannity, Limbaugh, Alex Jones, and Breitbart and you might not be so uninformed.

It's the adults who are pushing this issue, including outing those kids with issues.

Did you ever consider the possibility than trans girls see themselves as females and would sit rather than stand? You do not appear to understand the difference between a transvestite and someone who is transgendered. They are aware of their biology but they also know that emotionally they are female and they follow their emotions and act accordingly.

There are also transgender boys who would use the boy's restroom.

If they go into the opposite gender bathroom, they are outed.

Personally allowing or encouraging these kids to decide what gender they want to be is child abuse.

Most of them haven't come clean with the faculty and students. By going into those bath or locker rooms, everyone then knows.


My solution would be to wait until they're adults who can make their own decisions. Kids are mean enough without having a reason to pick on someone.

The outcome for them isn't as good if they have to wait until adulthood to address this problem because their bodies have matured in the wrong gender and they have to unlearn gendered behaviors. Kids don't have a problem when their classmates in transgender or gay. Instead, it is adults who make an issue and cause problems for transgender children and teens.

So you want them to stop being what they were born as by all available means as soon as possible. What happens if you are wrong or they change their minds?
 
I don't think this issue can be resolved for children short of providing genuinely one-person bathrooms.
