Georgia school district reverses transgender-friendly bathroom policy after death threats

Tolerance allows incremental degradation of society. That bleeds into our own families. Someone has to speak out.

Open-mindedness is the Devil's playground.

So you prefer intolerance.

That's the mindset that saw the birth of the Inquisition

The Taliban in Afghanistan share your belief on tolerance.

Should women be treated the same as men ?
They didn't use to be, now they can vote and drive a car and have a job....

Man [and woman] have been intolerant since the beginning. Otherwise we would have never evolved and chaos would have reigned.

There is a proper and rightous way to do things in the universe.

Yes, but in most of human civilization, we have had slavery - is that a good reason to keep it ?

The universe ? Might a civilization, on a planet, in a galaxy a billion light years away have a better way of doing things? Why must we be the best?

Secondly, what is good and moral, may not be in a hundred years. A thousand years ago , it was OK to own slaves, a thousand years earlier civilizations on both sides of the Atlantic thought human sacrifice was moral.
A thousand years from now (if we exist that long) a civilization may look back on us and say we nurture and raise animals only to later wear their skins and eat their flesh.

Lastly if there is a moral way of doing things, it certainly didn't originate from a holy book written thousands of years ago.

What about society are transgender people degrading?

How much do you know about history? Do you realize that attitudes about gender, sex, and sexuality vary wildly across time and civilizations? If what you're saying is true, then there would already be chaos. There isn't, so your claim about a proper and righteous way to do things is baseless.

That's a nice claim. WHy should I accept that you have it right?

Foremost, in this case, being proper examples for children. We've already dealt with the Transsexual Storytime for young kids here in our local. They were run out of town.

1. Slavery still here in greater numbers than before.

2. This is the only world we need to deal with.

3. Nobody here should compare transsexuality to slavery.

4. If you don't care for the Bible try the Magna Carta or other documents that established rule and law..

There's not chaos in today's world??

Please be specific. What about the proper examples for children in society are transgender people degrading? I'm giving you a chance to explain yourself here.

Generally, no. Most of the world operates in a relatively orderly fashion. Currency, time, transportation, trade, and communication are all fairly standardized. Science, technology, research, and education generally trend upward. More people than not live each day in relative security that is more or less similar to the day before it. Across a very broad view of human history, without the intention of disregarding shorter term "blips", humans have generally liberalized their views on gender, sex, and sexuality while the race has continued to advance by almost every measure.

So I identify two fundamental problems with your thesis, such as it is: 1.) Transgenderism isn't, or shouldn't be, tied to morality. I've asked you more than once to make a cogent argument why it should be and gave you another chance in post 236. 2.) The world has not become more chaotic as greater tolerance has been achieved, so your fire and brimstone predictions don't even withstand the example of history, let alone the test of rationality.

If I have you wondering, my job is done.

I am not wondering at all. That's because your claims are very off base.

Give me a chance?

Although I was speaking in general about the rule of law that keeps us from chaos, you're speaking in terms of social norms.

IMO, transsexuality or gender confusion are mental disorders that needs to be treated like any other not, accepted as just another form of human existence.

I realize those on the Left don't consider anything abnormal or forbidden [especially regarding sexual behavior] but, that's just part of the struggle to maintain a semblance of sanity and order. Given free reign, no telling what sort of sick, twisted world we might have.

1. Slavery still here in greater numbers than before....

No it's not
The slave trade is illegal - are you saying it's unwise to oppose slaver because it's always existed and still exists in an illegal form today rather than legal, widespread and enshrined in people's view of the world s it was in the past ?

Are you really? If not that why waste time saying that some human practices are still going on around the world ?

2. This is the only world we need to deal with...

And an imperfect one it is at that

Are you saying that morality doesn't change with the times? And that what's acceptable yesterday isn't today? If not, again why do you waste time saying you can't learn from the past or look forward into the future

The issue of climate control affects what might happen in the future, do you think that saying "it's OK today" is an acceptable way to judge the value of legislation ?

...3. Nobody here should compare transsexuality to slavery....

Why not ?

Slavery was once viewed as legal and accepted by society
However we don't accept any historical precedence as justification

...4. If you don't care for the Bible try the Magna Carta or other documents that established rule and law..

A law agreed by men and women is infinity preferable as historical source material than a holy book.
However a centuries old law cannot necessarily hold sway for modern issues.

In your opinion? It isn't a matter of opinion. Trained medical professionals, not random internet posters, decide by consensus what are mental disorders and how to diagnose and treat them. Transgenderism is not a mental disorder. In fact, it's a curious failing of some humans that they spend so much of their short, valuable lives preoccupied with the genders, sexes, and sexualities of people whom they will never meet and whom they will never change. To me, your objections are a monumental waste of time, but your life is yours and not mine. Let that sentiment soak in.

They interviewed 250 transsexuals in Mexico. WHO lists them as people with a mental disorder.

1. I SERIOUSLY doubt that

2. This world that has a history - like slavery

3. No comparison is being made, merely used as an example that because things/attitudes were different in the past, doesn't make them right now

4. Do you even know what Magna Carta said ?
It's not a very good example of the rule of LAW.

1. Just 40,000,000 worldwide.

2. Just this world

3. yea, slavery is often brought up as a comparison for those who feel like a victim.

4. The Magna Carta led to the English bill of rights which served as inspirations for principles that were eventually included in the American Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the U.S. Constitution and, of course, the U.S. Bill of Rights.

And its history as well as its present

3. yea, slavery is often brought up as a comparison for those who feel like a victim.

And those who want to demonstrate that just because an institution was practiced in the past, doesn't make it right.

That includes victims and those who wish to argue on their behalf.

No it didn't
Magna Carta was a law (if you can call it that) whereby the king of England ceded some power to his barons (great land owning lords). Basically it was a church brokered protection for the barons, not the common people.

And 500 years later under a more powerful absolute ruler like Henry VIII, it mattered little. Mess with the king and you die.

Yep, I sourced for you. It's BS.

Yes, well, you keep making up mental health science and medicine in your closed brain. I'll leave it to people who actually know what it is.

Of course a statist wouldn't think much of the Magna Carta

English translation of Magna Carta - The British Library

Magna Carta and the U.S. Constitution - Magna Carta: Muse and Mentor | Exhibitions - Library of Congress

Unsurprisingly "501 Not Implemented" page error

...of course a statist wouldn't think much of the Magna Carta....

Only a fantasist would think the Magna Carta was a law to protect ordinary men or could be likened to a Constitution.

Next time a patriot tells me the USA adopted the world's first national constitution, I'll tell them England had one in 1215 and see what their response is!

Btw what is a "statist" my spellchecker says it's not a real word - must be a product of your fantasies.
