Teacher Sues School District for Firing Him Over His Use of a Trans Pronoun.

A Virginia teacher is suing his school district after he was fired for refusing to use a trans student'''s pronouns, arguing that doing so would have been '''telling a lie'''

I am just sick of the Marxist left imposing its perversion on decent people like this teacher. He apparently called a trans student a pronoun "her" in accordance with her birth gender. She complained, and the cowardly school board fired the teacher. Now's he's suing. Good for him. I hope he sues the hell out of them and wins. I am SICK of Christian values being infringed upon every single minute by the far left radicals, whose ultimate goal, is the downfall of this country which would enable the few Marxists to take control and enrich themselves casting the populus into poverty and imprisonment.

See, the far left was stuck on gay rights for years. Then with the gay marriage ruling by the Supreme Court, they got everything they had ever wanted and more. But of course it was never about helping gays, or the activism would have ended there. No, it's about pushing a divisive agenda, so then they moved on to trans issues. Now they will seek to divide us according to this perversion. And if they win.....will they stop there? Hell no. They will move on to some other God-knows-what deeper level of perversion to push.

Imagine how unthinkable this crazy story would have been 30 years ago. It just shows how far the radical perverse Marxist influence has gotten. At some point, we have to stand up and overthrow ALL of this garbage. We need a reversal of the gay marriage ruling. We need a rollback of perversion.

Bad things happen to civilizations who embrace perversion. Consider the AIDS epidemic but a warning. Think Sodom and Gomorrah if we continue. "And the exploding meteor, with heat approaching that of the sun, incinerated Sodom and everything in it. Indeed the soil became so toxic, nothing grew there for 600 years."

I pray America has an enormous spiritual awakening before God decides He has had quite enough.

No, this is the word trick used for the entire trans-activists claim - to convince people that a person's SEX and GENDER mean the same thing. A person's "sex" is defined singularly by the person's dna. A person can no more change that than can change their race, height or age.

"Gender" is just a social concept. A person can be any "gender" they want to try to be for any or no reason other than wanting to.

He called her by her biological "sex," rather than the "gender" s/he wants to socially be.

How embarrassingly weak is your religion and your culture if understanding and using the proper pronoun for a child or a teen? If they would fail because you use him instead of her or they then they deserve to fail and be replaced.

How has LGBT marriage threatened or weakened anything? Do you feel icky if you see two people of the game gender together? Do you ever look to see if they are wearing rings before you are triggered?

Keep your myths to yourself and out of the lives of other people who both rational and compassionate.

It reminds me of the Cons argument on reversing DADT and allowing openly gay women and men serve there country. The claims by the Right were it would effect unit cohesion and effect morale. None of this came to pass. As a gay man who is also retired Air Force, thank you President Obama.

I'm going to approach this from a non-political/non-ideological standpoint--but from the standpoint of a teacher.

I've made no apologies on this website for being a pretty conservative individual--I've certainly sparred intellectually enough with many on this board championing conservative ideals. While I could post something about the hyper-sensitivity that we have seen in the last 6 or so years over the trans-gender issue and its unintended consequences on society, I believe that in the classroom, there are some overriding principles that must come to the forefront.

One of the most important ideas in the classroom stems from the idea that the classroom needs to be a place of safety for all in the classroom. I teach in an Early College High School with a very high proportion of my students being low-SES and have had several students who identify as a gender not conforming to their biological sex. I have never found a good reason to not call a student by the gender they prefer (although I usually use their name or nickname). By doing so, I see no ill effect in addressing them as they desire on either them or any other student in my classroom. But what I have observed is it has allowed me to develop a healthy relationship with these students which have allowed me to identify many other stressful and detrimental factors that they are dealing with at home. In turn, it has allowed me to refer them to the appropriate counseling and actions to deal with these issues that went well beyond their gender identity. The net effect is that they trusted me, respected me, and allowed them to not only excelled in my class, but have developed positively as a young man or woman (regardless of which they identify with).

Some (but certainly not a majority), by the time they are Seniors (I teach Freshman) have actually reverted to identifying with their original gender. I always wonder about what would have happened if I had allowed the nomenclature I called them to be an obstacle in developing these relationships and being able to help them with many of the other issues they were dealing with. I am reminded that suicide is the second leading cause of death of teenagers--those with the stressors that these students have had make them a high risk to follow suit.

Sometimes (most of the time?), putting aside our own world-view is in the best interests of our students and their future success.

In this particular case, we have the story in the newspaper, but we need to acknowledge, at least the possibility, that there may have been other issues that Vlaming might have had in his performance as a teacher. I've slipped from time to time in calling a student "he" when they identified as a "she". However, I am of the mind that a good teacher who has been doing the other things to develop respect and relationships with their students would have allowed the student to realize that these slip-ups are exactly what they are--slip-ups.

Bottom-line: Teaching is far more than conveying information and certainly more than allowing ourselves and our own world-view to become an obstacle to what we are supposed to be doing in the classroom. It seems this teacher did not conform to the same approach to the profession as I do.

These paranoid extremists are the Christian equivalent of ISIL. They want to turn the US back to the unreal and staid idea of the 1950s Ozzie and Harriett or Ward and June Cleaver. Or you could say it was a time when society was more moral and patriotic, shaped by the difficulties of the Depression and World War II. Back when everyone loved the country, and family and marriage was valued, and back before the Marxists took root into American society and degraded it in every way.....All for their own purposes, of course.
