Wouldn't rape be motivated by sexual reasons?
No they didn't bring that up.

I would hope not.
Yeah it was leftist propaganda. And people in that part of the political spectrum think sexual offenses aren't motivated by sexual reasons.
I disagree with that position. a person can exert power over somebody without engaging in any sexual activity. the fact that it is sexual means that it has sexual reasons. There seems to be an idea that rape is motivated by the expression of exerting power and that might also provide an additional motivation in some rapes
I think the idea of it being about power comes from the psychology of the victim. It's very common for a victim of sexual assault to blame themselves. But I don't think that that's correct either.I'd say sexual desire is still the #1 motivation though.

The active rape is always criminal regardless of whether the perpetrator was sexually aroused by the victim in some way or not.
But the motivation to rape is sexual. That there are alternative ways of exerting power doesn't remove it as a motivation for rape
It's typically linked to depressionVictims may well blame themselves
e wonder with amazement how bullying victims often choose suicide.

I agreeI would say that's the main cause but not the only one:
I agree
