Unholy Ingredients: Taking a closer look at the sin-by-association supply chain.

If they believe that baking a cake is sin then either sell the bakery and go find other work that isn't sinful or stop making wedding cakes for heteros and LGBT alike. They chose to open the bakery. It wasn't forced upon them by the government.

Democrats want to put people out of business if they allow their religious convictions to cause them to discriminate against homosexuals. What is wrong with discriminating against homosexuals if democrats disacriminate against republicans?

I'm not trying to put anyone out of business. but they must serve all people exactly equally, just as racist conservatives were forced to serve black and biracial people after the passage of the Civil Rights Act. They can stop making wedding cakes. they can make the business private where they get to choose their customers or they can sell the business to someone who isn't as homophobic.

Why are you ignoring the teachings of Jesus as recorded in Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12?

Who is discriminating against Republicans in a public business?

You believe life started on earth without God. You have no proof of that.

There is no proof of god and the Big Bang doesn't require any religious assistance. God doesn't exist just because you want or believe him to exist. You are making the positive claim of god existing so the burden of proof is on you to prove your claim to be true. Absent of reasonable evidence of god we revert to the stance that god does not exist. Your religious belief does not create reality just because you might be convinced and seek to ignore the basics concepts of logic. .

Can you prove that there isn't a teapot orbiting between Earth and Mars? That is Bertrand Russell's celestial teapot analogy.

I'm not trying to send anyone to jail or kick them out of the country, but all Americans must respect the office of the president of the US and give support to the legitimate processes of the US government, whether they are democrat or republican or white or black.

Christ haters can either recognize the rights of Christians in America to freely exercise their God-given and Constitutionally-protected rights to believe and serve God or they can go to hell.

Why are you ignoring the teachings of Jesus as recorded in Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12?

We must observe all verses in the Bible, not just a few we might want to misinterpret.

This is from James 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

This is 1 Corinthians 7:23 - Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

This is Acts 5:29 - Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Who is discriminating against Republicans in a public business?

Nobody is discriminating against anybody in business. A businessman who offends his customers puts his own self out of business. The government has no right to force ungodly moral opinions of a small minority of the country into the business affairs of American businesses.

That is like saying if they believe serving pork is a sin then they should either sell their restaurant or stop selling food to Muslims also. The government did not make them turn Muslim nor did the government force them to open a restaurant, but if they open a restaurant in the US they will damn sure obey all laws passed by Americans who support gay rights, abortions, socialism, restricted free speech, gun-grabbers and what not.

There is no proof of god and the Big Bang doesn't require any religious assistance.

Your opinion about a supposed big bang does not support the idea that God was involved with the creation of the universe. So what? You have no proof that your opinion about the godless origin of the universe is actually true.

God doesn't exist just because you want or believe him to exist. You are making the positive claim of god existing so the burden of proof is on you to prove your claim to be true.

God does not exist because people invented Him. God invented people and people are prone to invent ideas of their own about God which are absolutely false. You claim the universe was started by a big bang without God, but you say you have no responsibility to prove your claim true. So much for burden of proof.

Absent of reasonable evidence of god we revert to the stance that god does not exist. Your religious belief does not create reality just because you might be convinced and seek to ignore the basics concepts of logic. .

Your personal logic tells you for whatever reason that God does not exist. I don't subscribe to that kind of unsupported attempt at logic.

Can you prove that there isn't a teapot orbiting between Earth and Mars? That is Bertrand Russell's celestial teapot analogy.

Can you prove anything at all? Don't be silly. You should think about the fact that you are going to die in the end, whenever that comes, and that there is a possibility, at the very least, that you will finally be meeting God.

What’s wrong with discriminating against black people, asks the republican

The republican party was formed in opposition to the democrat party specifically to oppose the democrat party's support for slavery. Abraham Lincoln was the first republican president. Abraham Lincoln, like typical Christians who believed the Bible correctly, opposed slavery. Christians who love Jesus are not obsessed with skin color. People who do not know God are obsessed with skin color and are often filled with hatred for others for not being like them, whether it is skin color, religion, politics or whatever.

If a cake can be considered sinful if it is made or sold to be used in a gay wedding,
just how far back up the supply chain does this sin-by-association thing go?
The supplier who sells flour,
if that supplier knows one of the bakeries he sells his product to is known to be an establishment that will bake cakes for gay weddings,
is he in sin as well as he provides their flour?
The farmer who grows the wheat that is processed into the flour that is sold to the couple getting gay-married,
is he in sin?
How about the company hat sells the farmer all of his farming equipment,
is every emplyee of this company in sin,
or just upper mangement,
are they sinning?
It is a small town, everybody knows everybody's business,
so since half the people employed by that farming supply company are friends of the gay couple getting married,
and will be attending that gay-wedding already,
are they in double sin?

The Battle over wedding cakes seems to be a strange hill to die on. If someone doesn't want your business don't give it to them. Others would probably be thrilled to have it.

I would have just went to another bakery myself. I have no personal knowledge of what their motivations were or weren't, but that particular baker seems like a nice man. I didn't feel any Mike Pence anti-gay vibe coming from him. If they were choosing, couldn't they have chosen an actual hateful bigoted baker to make an example of? It's not like homophobic religious hypocrits are ever hard to find.

They probably don't do good business if they turn away customers. Plus there are Muslim owned bakeries that could turn down gay people over religious objection.

Yup. And Rosa Parks should have gone to the back of the bus.

Not really the same thing. There wasn't mandatory segregation of gay couples and straights and the Klines weren't following law to prioritize straights.

Rosa Parks was fighting establishment of law not some kooky bakers with idiotic beliefs.

I’m not interested in historical republicans. Today, in this thread, a Republican voter was fine with discrimination.

If she was alive today, should have she gone to another bakery miles away in her old age?

Lincoln was not a Christian.
Abraham Lincoln was then and still is a religious enigma. Lincoln aide John G. Nicolay wrote: “Benevolence and forgiveness were the very basis of his character. His nature was deeply religious, but he belonged to no denomination; he had faith in the eternal justice and boundless mercy of Providence, and made the Golden Rule of Christ his practical creed.”2 Another aide, John Hay, wrote of Mr. Lincoln: “He belonged to no Church. Yet he was the uncanonized saint of all the Churches. He never uttered a prayer in public.

The democratic party was split over slavery before the Civil War. The northern democratic party was more progressive and opposed it while the southern democrats were in support of slavery.

In the Election of 1860, the Democratic Party split into two parties, the Northern Democratic Party and the Southern Democratic Party.

By the late 1850s, the Democratic Party was split over the issue of slavery. Northern Democrats generally opposed slavery's expansion while many Southern Democrats believed that slavery should exist across the United States. In the presidential election of 1860, the Democratic Party split in two, with Stephen Douglas running for the Northern Democratic Party, and John C. Breckinridge representing the Southern Democratic Party. Two other political parties competed in this election as well. One of these parties was the Republican Party, with Abraham Lincoln as its candidate. Lincoln and the Republican Party opposed slavery's expansion. The other party was the Constitutional Union Party. The party's candidate, John Bell, hoped to compromise the differences between the North and South by extending the Missouri Compromise line across the remainder of the United States. Slavery would be permitted in new states established south of the line, while the institution would be illegal in new states formed north of the line. The Northern and Southern Democratic Parties only officially existed in the election of 1860.

Not the same at all. If a Muslim business decides not to serve pork, then they do not have any pork to sell to anyone at any time. Not to heteros, gays, women, men, black, white, brown, Christian, Hindu, Russian or American... Everyone is treated equally. Those bakers do sell wedding cakes, but they are not offered to everyone, that is discrimination, and if you are a business open to the public, you serve the entire public.

I don't think the couple denied was in their old age. And who says the nearest bakery was miles away?

What a way to miss the point. Some small cities have only one bakery in them.

Then you're going to have to tell me what your point is.

That you don't have to have to go somewhere else because of your race, religion and orientation?
