Is this image sexual in nature?

If so, how so?

What does your answer to this question reveal about your concept of sexuality?

You mean female underarm hair can be sexually attractive to some?

You mean female underarm hair can be sexually attractive to some?
Also in this image are dark wistful eyes, pink smiling lips, a rosy-cheeked face, the suggestion of at least an uncovered breast, a hands-behind-the-head pose, long dark flowing tresses, an gaze-inviting facial expression, a female gaze, a female person, and so on.

Do you find the image to be sexual in nature?

If so, why?

The armpit hair?

I'm interested in getting members to examine their concept of sexuality.

Sex differences in the brain: a whole body perspective

Abstract
Most writing on sexual differentiation of the mammalian brain (including our own) considers just two organs: the gonads and the brain. This perspective, which leaves out all other body parts, misleads us in several ways. First, there is accumulating evidence that all organs are sexually differentiated, and that sex differences in peripheral organs affect the brain. We demonstrate this by reviewing examples involving sex differences in muscles, adipose tissue, the liver, immune system, gut, kidneys, bladder, and placenta that affect the nervous system and behavior. The second consequence of ignoring other organs when considering neural sex differences is that we are likely to miss the fact that some brain sex differences develop to compensate for differences in the internal environment (i.e., because male and female brains operate in different bodies, sex differences are required to make output/function more similar in the two sexes). We also consider evidence that sex differences in sensory systems cause male and female brains to perceive different information about the world; the two sexes are also perceived by the world differently and therefore exposed to differences in experience via treatment by others. Although the topic of sex differences in the brain is often seen as much more emotionally charged than studies of sex differences in other organs, the dichotomy is largely false. By putting the brain firmly back in the body, sex differences in the brain are predictable and can be more completely understood.

Perhaps the unshaven armpits of the nice looking lady are indicative that she leads a natural life and doesn't spend hours getting make-up on, isn't obsessed with weight and spurns sitting down for hours in salons from everything from hair to nails.

Naturalness, yes? I see that too. The question concerns the sexuality of naturalness then. Or of natural beauty if you, like me, find the young woman beautiful. And then, of course, the sexual appeal of youth itself, yes?

Let's say, for talking's sake, that we, you and I, analyzed this image thoroughly and came up with a set of qualities to account for its sexual appeal (to you and me), what, if anything, would that set of qualities tell us about our (yours and mine) concept of sexuality?

Eroticism

Eroticism (from the Greek ἔρως, eros—"desire") is a quality that causes sexual feelings, as well as a philosophical contemplation concerning the aesthetics of sexual desire, sensuality, and romantic love. That quality may be found in any form of artwork, including painting, sculpture, photography, drama, film, music, or literature. It may also be found in advertising. The term may also refer to a state of sexual arousal or anticipation of such – an insistent sexual impulse, desire, or pattern of thoughts.

N.B. This is one of the key concepts in the philosophy of sexuality. Moreover, a working familiarity with the concept of alterity will cure a mind afflicted with subjectivitis, a common tic symptomatic of much internet chat, wherein the assertion "That's subjective" (often qualified by adverbs such as "merely" and "purely" and "only") passes for intelligent discourse, whereas in point of fact it is barely intelligible discourse.

By the way, did you know that New York City boasts a Museum of Sex? The first of its kind apparently, seventeen years ago, dedicated "to preserve and present the history, evolution and cultural significance of human sexuality" and "advocating open discourse surrounding sex and sexuality as well as striving to present to the public the best in current scholarship unhindered by self-censorship." If you're interested, Google is your friend in this case.

That sex and sexuality be the theme of a museum strikes this political cynic and sexual iconoclast as the perfect philosophical comment on the subject.

Sex vs gender
The term sex refers to biological characteristics, namely chromosomes, internal and external sex organs, and the hormonal activities within the body. Essentially, when we use the term sex, what we are really commenting on is “male” vs. “female”, scientifically speaking. The sex of an individual is based on genetics, making it much more difficult to change.

Unlike “sex”, gender does not have a basis in science, although it is affected by the biological and physiological characteristics we display as “males” and “females”. Instead, gender is based on the societal constructions and belief systems put in place that deal with masculinity and femininity.

Sex, Gender, and Why the Differences Matter
First though, it is necessary to point out that the terms sex and gender are not synonyms. Sex refers to the biological differences between males and females. Gender refers to the continuum of complex psychosocial self-perceptions, attitudes, and expectations people have about members of both sexes. Even the terms male and female, man and woman are not interchangeable. What it means to be male or female originates from physical characteristics derived from sex chromosomes and genes that lead to certain gonads, internal and external genitalia, and physiological hormones. Being a man or a woman holds broader meaning, with cultural concepts of masculinity and femininity coming into play.

"Society is a system of inherited forms reducing our humiliating passivity to nature.
We may alter these forms, slowly or suddenly,
but no change in society will change nature."

"Sexuality and eroticism are the intricate intersection of nature and culture.
Feminists grossly oversimplify the problem of sex when they reduce it a matter of social convention:
readjust society, eliminate sexual inequality, purify sex roles, and happiness and harmony will reign.
Here feminism, like all liberal movements of the past two hundred years, is heir to Rousseau."

The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana
Sir Richard Burton, translator
(1883)
The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian text which is considered the primary Sanskrit work on human sexuality. It was written by Mallanaga Vatsyayana in the 2nd century CE. Although Burton published this, the most widely known English translation, he was not the author of the translation, although he did provide footnotes and the introduction. The bulk of the translation was performed by an Indian archaeologist, Bhagvanlal Indraji and civil servant Foster Fitzgerald Arbuthnot, with the assistance of a student, Shivaram Pashuram Bhide. This is one of the first systematic studies of human sexual behavior in world literature. It also documents the sociology of sex in India eighteen centuries ago.

"A girl who is called by the name of one of the twenty-seven stars, or by the name of a tree, or of a river, is considered worthless, as also a girl whose name ends in "r" or "l". But some authors say that prosperity is gained only by marrying that girl to whom one becomes attached and that therefore no other girl but the one who is loved should be married by anyone."

"Nature is a Darwinian spectacle of the eaters and the eaten. All phases of procreation are ruled by appetite: sexual intercourse, from kissing to penetration, consists of movements of barely controlled cruelty and consumption. The long pregnancy of the human female and the protracted childhood of her infant, who is not self-sustaining for seven years or more, have produced the agon of psychological dependency that burdens the male for a lifetime. Man justifiably fears being devoured by woman, who is nature’s proxy."
