It's a hypothesis communicated in several circles. MGTOW videos make this claim. It's also a notion in South America. Many women in South America would not divorce their husband for consorting with prostitutes for this very reason. Many believe however that they are in danger of being "traded in for a younger model" if their husband is caught with the housekeeper's legal age daughter or the checkout girl from the supermarket for example. What say you?

You have got to find better material.

No. How many times do we have to teach you this lesson!?

...if their husband is caught with the housekeeper's legal age daughter or the checkout girl from the supermarket for example. What say you?

Feels like I've stumbled into a confession booth...

I say you're full of it, as usual.

Damn, this boy is obsessed!

To answer your thread question, I don't think it does.

eta: a silly hypothesis deserves a silly retort. Glad I could be helpful.

His question is basically meaningless, in addition to being loaded with the bias he carries with him like a badge of honor. He didn't define "too many".

I would ask the same question about men. Sex is a two way street.

There's nothing silly about your reply. You answered the question directly in a concise manner. That then leads to the interesting question of WHY this notion is believed. It's striking how even the smallest of towns in Brazil has a "cat basket" (cesta de gatas) with a red porch light prominently displayed. Most of the customers are older married men in the town. It's even more striking that their neighbors don't think less of the men that are seen there.

I'm not judging if it's true or false, but I find that belief and its origins as interesting. It's also interesting to notice that any man who doesn't strike his wife is considered above average.

Step back and take stock of your threads.

It's not the ladies. It's you.

I know men that have been married for 50+ years that have enjoyed entertaining a "young honey" most of their marriage. I don't know any such women.

Such a man stays married primarily because he owes his children and perhaps grandchildren stability.

You aint been to southern cal then. The term cougar was invented out here with the older women chasing and catching younger men in the service trades. The richer the woman it seems the randier they get. I think wealth has a lot to do with the dynamic you write of. The women out in So Cal, if they have money are very well serviced.

I got more coochie than a fleet of bicycle seats and yet I've managed a twenty year marriage, and in my former eight year marriage I was never unfaithful, but my partner was...but it wasn't because she'd had too many partners, it was because she was a drug addict and he had the drugs while I had quit and was struggling with sobriety.

Righhttt. You mean it's important to be obedient when someone says "Don't tutor so-and-so because the department Queen Bee has him/her on an enemies list." No thank you! If/when that happens again, I will just update my resume and start interviewing. The most recent beneficiary of my thirty years of corporate expertise happened to be the delightful and smart Asian lady. I tried to get her transferred to my department, but we both wound up leaving the company anyway.

The best way to win the game is to lay low and not play "the game".

That's very interesting. What proportion of these cougars do you suppose are married?

I didn't sow my oats much, sticking my member into strange was and is something I was always loath to do. The notion of my Willie falling off because of some disease was my primary motivator in that regard. I found my SO and have remained her faithful companion ever since.

You have a very interesting history. Sometimes the absurd answer is the correct answer. What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your experiences?

Damn near all of them. Its fricken sport out here. Surprisingly a lot of the husbands don't have mistresses. I think it has a lot to do with the amount of time the husbands work. Those guys are putting in 80+ hours. I think its because they are too tired to service their wives or chase *****. That my opinion of the situation anyhow.

Don't apply absurd broad brush statements to men or women.

That's amazing. These husbands are having their own money used against them. Since it's California after all, can you imagine paying a gigolo as part of an alimony settlement since she needs to maintain the "style of life that she was accustomed to"?

To be honest with you I don't think the men care all that much if their woman is screwing around so long as its reasonably discreet. You would think divorce would be more prevalent but I think the marriages are more of a business arrangement, so a divorce halves what the wife would have if she remained married. Most divorces come about via disputes over money, specifically the lack thereof. If you become a broke man, you tend to also be a divorced man.

I suspect the Venn diagram circle of folks who have more sexual partners than average and the circle of folks who are not interested in long-term [monogamous?] relationships may have some significant overlap.
