Should gay couples be allowed to adopt kids?

Why would they want to?! (Other than to get attention and to make a point.) If you're not into the whole male/female thing that's cool but c'mon let's be real.

Yes. Anyone who wants to go to incredible cost, hassle and the trouble to adopt and raise a child not their own is on the side of the angels in my opinion.

They can already adopt kids.

The nation is already turning gay.

All your straights are belong to them.

I think gay couples can make great parents, while some straight couples are the ****s. They shouldn't be let anywhere near kids.

what society decides to deem correct doesn't always meet correctness in function that has brought us through the ages. should they be allowed to adopt? assuming gayness used to be in the same catagory as pedophiles and adulterers no i do not think they should be able to. not all gays are this way and not all straights are either. we all drew the line a long time ago so it was written and brought us up here till now. so what should we do? the way society is building kids these days is to accept gays. in a world full of yes men and monkey see monkey do kinda people its not always to excite others to accept them for the good the future we must do what has to be done and what has always been done in our world...draw the line again.

Given that single people can adopt if they meet the criteria, then there is no reason why gay couple's or even poly families can't adopt.

Not to be boring and all, but there should be some studies out by now about how well adjusted the kids grew up to be as adults. It seems likely that there is an emotional inheritance from both the male and female influence of child rearing, so absent that, a portion of the child's emotional balancing is missing.

Until that question is answered it's a moot point IMO.

As it stands to day it's happening, so time will tell. It's better than no parents at all.

LOL x 2

Ah, that precious Right Wing "logic" that says any two straight parents are better than a single parent, but that being raised by the government is better than having two gay parents.

Yes, as a loving two parent family is vastly superior to being raised in an orphanage. You on the other hand should be banned from producing offspring.

What We Know | What does the scholarly research say about the well-being of children with gay or lesbian parents? | What We Know

We identified 79 scholarly studies that met our criteria for adding to knowledge about the well-being of children with gay or lesbian parents. Of those studies, 75 concluded that children of gay or lesbian parents fare no worse than other children.

And the four....

We identified four studies concluding that children of gay or lesbian parents face added disadvantages. Since all four took their samples from children who endured family break-ups, a cohort known to face added risks, these studies have been criticized by many scholars as unreliable assessments of the well-being of LGB-headed households.

Also: Kids Can Thrive with Gay Parents | Psychology Today

Is there a negative impact of growing up in a home with gay parents? Luckily, this is an area of psychology in which the research is truly conclusive: children have just as much chance to thrive with gay parents as with straight parents.

None of the outcome measures showed any difference between families headed by gay versus straight parents. Children’s behavior problems were no different between these groups, whether behavior was rated by parents or teachers. Parental stress and family functioning were no different between these groups. In sum, there was no evidence whatsoever to suggest that children generally fared better or worse depending on the sexual orientation of their parents.

Policy should not rest on a single study alone, but this study’s results do not stand alone. They are fully consistent with an established body of research. Numerous studies of children’s outcomes have examined a variety of measures, including mental health, educational achievement, social relationships, and personality development, in many samples in a variety of countries. As a rule, these studies have not found evidence of detrimental outcomes for children raised by gay versus straight parents.

Similar position statements have been articulated by other major professional organizations including the American Medical Association, American Bar Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Child Welfare League of America. Given the accumulation of evidence, it is long past time to fully accept all loving families as appropriate places for raising children.

There's nothing to fear.

Should gay couples be allowed to adopt kids?

Good question. Here is another one:

Should people who believe that gay couples should not be allowed to adopt kids be allowed to adopt kids?

Yes, they should, provided they meet all normal criteria.

Maybe because there are children that need a home with a loving couple and that loving couple want a child to love and cherish. Maybe something like that.

your feeble mind cant comprehend the philosophy brought down through the ages in order to survive.

Well there's no rule against make a couple adopting children or a single person adopting children except for in Utah.

You sir are too eager to assume the best of people. I think they want to adopt because they are trying to recruit more future gays into their group because they themselves do not reproduce.

Since more gays comes from straight parents than gay parents, this argument has no basis.

I am not arguing about who produce more gay kids. I am guessing about the possible motivation of what makes gay parents want to adopt.
