It's not necessary to like hurting people, a desire to be served is sufficient unless I'm mistaken.

Actually, I'm as right wing as they come. I even appreciate those that manage to live the Christian lifestyle, especially in the sexual standards. For many people, it just doesn't work in practice. It's like going through life with shoes that are too tight. Sexual repression simply causes more distress than most people are prepared to deal with.

I would rather be a creepy tourist that has 18 year olds legally sit on my lap than someone that does it illegally in a parsonage. I am being generous by assuming "men of the cloth" wait until their target turns 18.

So I went to my first poly meeting in Seattle. I found them through meetup.com. I was a little disappointed. They all seemed very comfortable with each other but not really excited about welcoming new people into their group. Even to find out people's names I had to struggle to get it out of most of them. When I first got there I sat next to a woman that was more interested in her sandwich and playing on her phone that learning anything about me. I finally got her to put her sandwich down and tell me her name :)

Anyway, the stuff I learned:

STD testing - you have to have your results on your phone ready to forward to someone on a moments notice. Several of them said that 80% of people our age have some type of HSV (1 or 2). Half the people in the group said they were HSV positive. So I'm really excited to find out what strain I have <--- sarcasm (hopefully).

They said that the poly community in Seattle is really small. One of the guys said he met someone and she knew several of the other women he dated!

The group spent most of the time excitedly planning some swinging event at a resort in Cancun taking place in November. Good for them! I'm can't imagine I'd ever be into swinging. I'm not interested at all in watching someone I care about getting railed on by another dude.

It seems that most of the guys that are married swing with their wives but it's only their wives that go off and form cool and rewarding one-on-one relationships. That's what I'm interested in doing. It just doesn't seem fair the husbands stay at home and while the wives go off and have hot, steamy affairs with other men.

I'm not giving up. There are other poly groups out there. I'll find one that's right for me.

Your therapist has an interesting perspective. If a committed relationship with a woman doesn't work for you, the solution is to have committed relationship with 2 or more women.I'm not sure how the logic works. Maybe the problem is about committed relationships, not the number of women you have then with at the same time.

I prefer serial monogamy myself. But, I'm getting a little too old to score beyond my paygrade again like I did with wife #3. So...I grin and bear it.

But, if I could, I'd be all over landing me another 29 year old. Hell yeah!
