LGBT Left Wing?

Identity politics are for the simple-minded. Life is too complicated for that. I'm bisexual, and my ultra conservative family-for the most part-has disowned me. For a while, I was extremely liberal.. living in Cali and thought conservatives were the dumbest mofos ever. but the older i get, the more i appreciate the value of liberty which is why i am a moderate. Why the hell do people need to choose a side? Each issue exists based on its own merit. I'm pro choice/ pro gun. Those are apparently two opposing positions since liberals are anti gun and pro choice while conservatives are pro life (anti choice :mrgreen: ) and pro gun. However, these issues are completely unrelated. Not all conservatives hate LGBT people. most of the conservatives i know don't care what other people do and how they live their lives as long as they're not hurting anyone else. Most sensible people are too busy living their lives to care about what other consenting adults are doing in bed. Don't let a few loud, dumb conservatives represent an entire demographic. And also don't assume that all or even most LGBT people are liberal.

That is true, but that too is changing. According to polls, the support for gay rights on African Americans increased from 39% in 2015 to 51% as of June of 2017. .

That doesn't sound strange to me at all. The black community is just as religious as the white community, and susceptible to same 'macho' mentality that has people distancing themselves from LGBT support for fear of being accused of being gay alone. However, if you're a white guy who sides with the left on any social issues, it means you'd have to empathize with a group or groups other than your own. If you're a minority that votes Democrat based on how you're own community and person will be effected, then you must do no such thing.

And, as also was pointed out, even among the African Americans, attitudes to gay marriage are changing. I personally am surprised on how quickly attitudes are changing, even in places that traditionally took a great deal of time to change prejudices.

Still wondering when the Millenial Left will wake up, realize and recognize just how difficult their battle is against McConnellism. GOPs now own the Federal Courts that will decide ALL LGBT 🏳️*🌈 Issues.

Voting mail-in and doing nothing else, especially in Texas, is why Democrats will continue to lose in Texas. I can only give so many $$ to each candidate.

If people make it difficult for you, perhaps you need to dissacociate from them. I have been called "the gay equivalent of an uncle tom" on this board by leftist puritanical authoritarians. To wit i respond "**** you. "

You shouldn't keep friends because they share a sexual identity or orientation with you. You should keep friends that share morals with you.

If people make it hard for you drop them like the southern Baptist fundamentalists that demanded you change for them. Are they really any different?

I disagree. I'm expected to think a certian way act a certian way and believe certian things by mostly leftists. in fact the only anti homosexual rhetoric I've heard on here has come from leftists.

Why would any gay man or women support a party which systematically prevented them from marrying and serving openly in the military? You think about that some, and you have the answer to your question.

And that one facet I don't support either party. Keep in mind don't ask don't tell was Instituted by the Clinton administration. It was one of the reasons why I chose not to serve.

I don't think you Bill Clinton was a Republican nor do I think he was a conservative.

Clinton wanted to open the military to gays, DADT was compromise with the GOP. Thank you President Obama for correcting a wrong. Google some history, it will serve you well in future postings.

There is no F in LGBT either.

As far as your willingness to divulge your state of being that's neither here nor there. When we get down to brass tacks whether or not you were born female or male, and whether or not you identify with how you were born is your business and your business alone and of course the business of your most intimate friends.

Beside that I would imagine I'm not trans but I just would think you would want people to treat you as a woman not a trans person.

People who never met "him" I just am Renae, woman. To those that knew "him" yeah I'm trans and most have adjusted to that.

the reason why I didn't serve is because the Clinton administration instituted this Draconian measure they could have not done that.

I will give credit where credit is due. But prior to Obama and the even after Obama Democrats were not all for same-sex marriage. Hillary Clinton opposed Barack Obama opposed it they said as much and if they were just lying then they're Liars.

The problem I see is how everybody wants to turn this into a black and white issue when it isn't.

Yeah, I know a party that did too, the people of the State of California. Or do you forget that? The problem with the Gay Marriage push it was very contentious. I for one supported legal unions vs Marriage as compromise and figured over time the masses as a whole would warm to the idea instead of using the courts to force the issue.
