Currently there are two gender chromosomes, x and y.
xx = female (f)
xy = male (m)

These permit only one possible pairing and two normal offspring gender outcomes (not counting tripple chromosome disorders).
f + m = f, m
* note the comma means 'or'

The introduction of a 3rd gender chromosome (z) creates 4 additional genders.

In the presence of an x chromosome, the z chromosome is triggered (t) to behave like a y,
producing a half shemale.
xz(t) = half shemale (hs)

In the presence of a y chromosome, the z chromosome reverts (r) to behaving like an x,
producing an alt male.
yz(r) = alt male (am)

In the presence of another z chromosome, one or both of them must revert to x behavior,
producing either a full shemale or an alt female. They cannot both be triggered.
zz(r,t) = full shemale (fs)
zz(r,r) = alt female (af)

This introduces 14 additional pairings and 10 additional sets of offspring gender outcomes.
f + hs = f, hs
f + am = m, hs
f + fs = hs
m + hs = f, m, hs, am
m + fs, af = hs, am
hs + hs = f, hs, fs, af
hs + am = m, hs, am, fs
hs + fs, af = hs, fs
am + fs, af = am, fs, af
fs + fs, af = fs

Uh...what the ****?

Also the combination of chromosomes determines sex, not gender. Idk where you're trying to go with this thought exercise.

What's your point?

Well, we know it's bound to happen that someday we will re-engineer our own genetics and expand our biology. People who aren't paying attention to biotech research are going to be shocked at what's coming so I want to seed this here if only to get people thinking about it and ease the shock. This is just one of many concept that are being developed that would not only permit a spectrum of genders to more closely resemble an emerging spectrum of human sexuality, it would allow mankind to recover from disasters that would otherwise render us extinct, and it would allow mankind to colonize space in ways not currently possible.

I was going to copy and paste this explanation to my OP but the editing feature appears to have expired.

Thank you for explaining.

"Expand our biology?" :sigh:

That makes no sense. Just how much are you understanding the bio-research you are reading?

You can't just add a chromosome.

BTW, there is a genetic disorder that makes a copy of one. The chances are overwhelming that adding or copying any other chromosome would produce problems, if unpredictable based on what we know now. Further, there is absolutely no indication that there is an entire chromosome that determines gender, and that's IF it's a purely genetic thing (as opposed to genetic and epi-genetic).

I could go on but the OP was nonsense, man.

Also: there are 46 chromosomes in a normal human genome arranged by pair of each. They vary by size.

As I said, adding one chromosome is certain to cause issues. I'm guessing that the probability that adding 50% of those (aka, you're "adding a third chromosome") would produce something incapable of survival approaches zero in the mathematical sense.

It's unfortunate folks think shaming has no place in society. That's how stuff like this happens.

There is no third gender, there's only two. Science doesn't say there's only 2 genders, but they have only proven 2 genders, so there is only 2 genders.
