I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, so Mods please move if necessary.

A video just popped up on my YouTube feed. It was a "sexologist" complaining that some of her content was demonetized.

Most of her videos seem to focus on healthy sex habits and relationships. But she has some videos that that are somewhat explicit such as demonstrating how to give a blow job using a banana.

I personally have no issue with such content.

My point: But anyone with half a brain would understand that such content could make advertisers uncomfortable, and it should come as no surprise that those videos were demonetized.

But apparently this women doesn't have half a brain.

Some people will do anything to get clicks or attention...

rant over.

Youtube has about 300-500 hours of video's uploaded every minute depending on where you're getting your info. Do you think that Youtube has people checking every single hour of footage? No, of course not. Instead they use what boils down to a word censor. Much like the one DP has only more advanced and has a lot more words programed into it. How do they get these words you ask? Captions. Even if the author of the video does not enable captions the video's are still checked via the caption system. If a video comes up with certain words, combination of words then that video gets demonetized. Doesn't matter that the words are from a game, a song, or a lecture. Only way to get it to where it's monetized again is to go through an appeal process. That's when a human will actually check it out...maybe. But even then it may not get monetized again as even with a human the process is still partly automated.

Sometimes demonetization is justified. Other times its not. I watch quite a few gaming channels. Every single one is always wondering if their video is going to get demonetized just because the word "dick" was uttered or some other innocuous phrase. YouTube needs to loosen up. Severely.

When people say demonetized, is YouTube just not advertising on that channel? Or is it they just reduce the money from the advertising.

Numerous very popular MGTOW providers have been banned and demonetized.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks. I wonder if people will migrate to a less ban hammer happy streaming service?

They're starting to. Alot of them are switching to Twitch streaming atm. I expect a few more to pop up also since YouTube is, at least imo, going downhill.

Good. I have no sympathy for MGTOW. MRA's yes, MGTOW...no. Two very different groups even if some don't realize it.

YouTubers just complain about getting their vids demonetized, but they don't really do something to avoid it.
