As long as it's between consenting adults and no inbred kids are born, it's a victimless crime.

Cousins used to marry all the time. I don't see the big deal. Most are not going to want to. There is an ick factor. I have lots of male cousins and they feel like brothers to me because we spent a lot of time together growing up. If we didn't, we might not feel that way. Think about step-siblings. There is no biological component, it is icky because we feel related.

...but understandable. (please here me out)

Lot and his two daughters just saw two cities get destroyed by heavenly fire and brimstone.
Then they saw their own mother turned into a pillar of salt for looking back to watch it.
They thought they were the last three people on earth.

So they both developed a plan.
Get their father really drunk and mount him to repopulate the earth as they thought they were the only two fertile females in existence on the whole earth.

Under those conditions, I won't judge.

But it is right there in the old testament.

This, I think, might be the only example I would not condemn.
but I would not condone it either.

This argument only holds true when looking at incest that results in offspring, and then only when looking at multi-generational inbreeding.

Same sex and sterile couplings will not result in such a problems. This fact actually makes the topics of incest and inbreeding two separate ones.

Where are people getting their numbers for when it comes to the risk of severe birth defects among first generational incestuous relations? That does not match any research I've seen for that particular level. The risk for severe birth defects for children of women over 40 is only about 2x as much as normal risk (those under 40), whereas the recognized risk for first generational incest (mother/father-child, brother-sister) is about 20-40x the normal. If you are talking about second gen incest (cousins, aunt/uncle-niece/nephew), then the risk is only about the same as that faced by a woman over 40 having children.

Some time back my wife was interested in a BBC America show called Orphan Black were its almost a total female only club and the main women were clones. They were fighting each other and killing each other. She join a group and they were a all female group and used images from the show as the icon as there avatar. They all called each other sister and she noticed a number of them were dating each other. She found it a little strange to call each other sister and dating each other at the same time. It made me think about it, and with incest, nobody talks about same sex incest. Since you cannot produce a child, I do not find it unlawful for two sisters to get married with each other.
