Why don't incels just go to Venezuela?

The incel thing is more complicated than you present, as it's tied-up in one's view of self-worth, and is generally compounded with other issues.

If they are too socially awkward to seek out a local prostitute, it seems unlikely they'll to go around the world for the same thing, even at a discount.

Not sure why it's alright to mock them but not Venezuela. Most incels never hurt anyone, just like most people who have difficulties in life.

Be thankful you aren't similarly afflicted.

The outspoken ones do, as they band together on forums like 4chan. As far as I know they picked the name.

I think the anger part that we focus on is a symptom rather than the actual issue, which has more to do with rationalizing society's expectations with your own situation. Many are raised to fear sex. I certainly got a dose of that when and where I was raised (AIDS! STDs ! DRUGS! COMMIES!)

Until around 1900 or so, it was considered perfectly normal for an unmarried man to visit prostitutes. Not saying that would be better, but it created a socially acceptable outlet for awkward people to experience sex that doesn't exist any more.

Just as extreme isolation will inevitably drive people insane, many men who go without sex for long periods (whatever the reason) will begin to develop strange thoughts and may eventually act out on them.

That doesn't make the behavior acceptable, but these people deserve better than mockery and further isolation.

Without speaking for beefheart, I'd guess it's because the few incels that we see in the media are the violent ones.

If you're interested in greater insight, you might want to check out Elliot Rodgers' (The Santa-Barbara shooter) "manifesto."

It's a grueling read, but it covers in some detail the process of how this guy developed into a killer.

Ah! I see (a little) I was wondering about all the animosity.

So then there is a violent (apparently bitter, resentful) component to the incel community.

It seems then, that they are just another self-victimizing group of losers blaming others for their problems and failures. In that case, a group that needs to be carefully observed for the potential for more shootings IMO.

Edit: so it doesnt take long reading that to see a self-absorbed little *****, just aiming for victimhood. (He had 'playdates' at age 16...arranged for him!)

Agreed. He's very unlikable and cowardly AND we as a society failed to detect and find him help\stop him in time to avert a tragedy.

Couldn't say. It's considered fairly standard behavior on parts of 4chan so I'd guess thousands globally, at a minimum.

I think them having a place to encourage each other's worst behaviors is only going to make things worse, but censorship isn't the answer.

As far as solutions go, if I was a parent with an awkward male child who didn't seem to be developing normally, somewhere around 18 I might plan a trip to Las Vegas.

Not a familiar term, but I looked it up, and I gather these are community activist types?

Fare how, living together or fighting to the death?

I'll go with living\working together.

They seem pretty different, but barring other changes, I don't think the sort of socially awkward type incel I have some familiarity with would participate.

That's the problem in a nutshell. For whatever reason, they can't participate normally in social settings, and it eventually leads to resentment, seeing themselves as victims of unfair women, seeking like-minded people for social interaction, and sometimes violence.

I'd also guess if they could overcome that, a group like the colectivos could reverse a lot of that damage, and ultimately "cure" the behavior, in many cases.

But then if that was easily overcome, this wouldn't be much of a problem. There's nothing stopping them from engaging with similar groups at home.

Right. The US is capitalist-socialist with a heavier emphasis on capitalism. Countries of the EU are socialist-capitalist with a heavier emphasis on socialism.

If more than 50% was the deciding figure to determine whether EU countries were socialist or capitalist like how some (sore loser) Americans want to decide presidential elections, those EU countries are socialist, IMO.
