#Permissletoe brought to you by NOW

Huh? Yes, things can be funny and stupid too. I thought it was just stupid.

Someone can see something that's stupid, shake their head, think morons, laugh, know that it doesn't represent their views and likely the majority of normal people and move on. I'm in that camp.

Yes, I know. You've already said that.

Cool.

Who steps under mistletoe and whips out his junk? Has this ever happened to you? Does the woman then kiss his penis?

Uh, no. It has never happened to me, but I'm not American. Never seen anyone talk about doing anything under the mistletoe here!

It's the new way. Find something nobody ever intended to do, and warn them not to do what they never would have in the first place. The effort is to create an issue out of thin air. Such people are assholes who need to find something worthwhile to think about.

I think The National Association of Gals (NAG) figured that by condemning something that pretty much nobody does, they can take credit for eradicating something that didn't exist.

Because, people like getting their knickers in a twist. Some people have to find a reason to get upset about SOMETHING. For example, some companies instruct their employees to say Happy Holidays, since not every one of their customers is Christian, and some people get all hyper and upset because it's not catering to THEIR religion.

Honestly, I really don't understand why this sign that starts "Attention: Men" isn't trashed by everyone. I thought it was bad/wrong to imply that everyone or the majority of some certian group were guilty of acting in some negative way. If it had been a sign that started "Attention: Muslims" and proceeded to remind them not to act like radicalized terrorists, we wouldn't be getting this "whatevs" attitude. We'd see quite a few knickers in a twist I bet.

Nothing? No kiss on the cheek?

No, we really don't, true story. I've heard of kissing under mistletoe in other Countries, just not here.

Mention mistletoe to Australians and the Christmas tradition of kissing under one would probably come to mind. That is, getting friendly under a northern-hemisphere plant — which they have probably never seen.

However, we have our own mistletoe, with at least 90 native species found in Australia (and probably none of them have ever overshadowed kissing couples in our December heat).

The mistletoe ? as Australian as the gum tree |

I giggled at the December heat part. Get's so hot here for Christmas.

I do a Holidays Around the World unit with my kids before Christmas break every year. I find the different traditions of other countries and cultures to be fascinating.

And the OP picture is from my friend who lives in NYC and found it at Grand Central Terminal.

Did she actually take the picture? I'd love to see it in context and where it actually is hanging in Grand Central Terminal, cause I'm a bit sceptical about this.

The kids would love that. You know, when I was little and growing up, I'd see movies and things on TV showing places in the US with such beautiful Christmas trees with their lights on, sitting in front of the windows, snow falling and snow covering the ground outside and it just looked like the most beautiful place in the world to me. It doesn't snow here.

He.

And you can view it on NOW-NYC's Twitter page too (see some posts above).

That would be so weird to have Christmas when it's hot. What about Santa? Is that the same as here in America? Sleigh, reindeer, chimney, cookies and milk, Rudolph, North Pole, etc.?

I have no doubt NOW-NYC made the twitter post to tag like minded peeps, what I have doubt about is they posted a big sign in Grand Central Terminal.

It wasn't a big sign -- it was just a piece of regular size paper on the wall.

Ah, so someone printed it out and stuck it on one of those bulletin board type things or taped it to a wall?
