Does have a "senior problem"?

Could be dementia or it could be he is an asshole. I don't know which it is. If it is dementia then his handlers need to do a better job.

I think it's related to his medical condition.

Bush has been diagnosed with a rare condition known as vascular Parkinsonism, which is generally believed to be caused by small strokes that damage the same brain structures as are affected in Parkinson’s Disease.

It’s possible that the strokes or other damage to his brain might explain why he acted inappropriately – and seemingly out of character.

Any damage to the frontal lobes, the part of the brain right behind the forehead, can cause personality changes, executive function problems and a loss of self-control, said Dr. Alberto J. Espay, a professor of neurology at the University of Cincinnati.

Ole Isaacson, a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, said medications given to patients with vascular Parkinsonism can cause hypersexuality and related behaviors.

His family needs to watch putting him within proximity of women. It's degrading to both the women and him.

Are they claiming harrassment?

You see that thing a lot with certain manifestations of dementia. Since it doesn't seem to have been a problem earlier in his life it's a good bet that it's a result of cognitive decline.

Its more likely that he is old enough that he grew up in an era where a pinch of the ass and a joke was not seen as traumatizing and a fairly common thing. Its also likely that his mental faculties are such that 'change' isnt really much of an option.

That doesnt excuse anything...but it is a simple factual reality that that type of behavior was seen as pretty normal.

A third woman has now come forth.

I would semi-confidently speculate the cause here has a medical underpinning which Gina sourced in Post #5.

There are women all over this planet.Half of the people on this planet are women.

Where do you think they should keep him?

I said, within proximity. More precisely, close proximity. He's in a wheel chair and relies on his family to take him where goes. They can limit his exposure to women. Possibly, entirely.

I posted this yesterday, but long story short. My parents were close friends with a another couple. The man suffered a stroke and his mental state began to degrade when he came home. Ultimately, she decided, no other women would be allowed in the house because he groped and said inappropriate things to them. That's how she handled it. To protect nurses, house keepers and friends. And it was respectful to him because it was completely out of his character and had he the capacity to realize what he was doing, he would ashamed.

It's not funny in any way. It's sad and it happens to the elderly, men and women. Dementia, stroke, injury or as I posted, some prescribed meds can cause hypersexuality.

So yeah. His family should be protecting women from his demeaning behavior. It is degrading to both the women and him.

typical behavioral manifestations of dementia patients are behaviors that harken back to the patient's youth

HW is likely performing these acts currently as he most likely did in his youth aka HW has been a horn dog at heart for life .............

This is pretty well known in long term care facilities. All the aides and nurses know who to watch out for. Once and a while there were guys who were just lecherous.

It not that they were lecherous and it's not just guys. My grandmother got very "handsy" at one stage in her dementia. In many cases it isn't so much sexual as it is a fascination with tactile sensations. For some people it's just a fascination with the feel of various fabrics.

That is why I said "once and a while". Yes, we used to assembly panels with a variety of shapes, textures and objects on them for the residents to "play" with.

In general, I would come down pretty hard on sexual harassment, but he's a 93 year old guy in a wheelchair who looks pretty frail and probably has some degree of dementia. I think women need to cut him a little slack.

But I probably wouldn't turn my back on him. :2razz:

Is the David "Cop-a-feel" joke that he uses before he gropes part of his sickness?

Yes, I think so. They do and say inappropriate things. They lose their judgement.

They do indeed.

I have known persons who, for all the many years I have known them, were persons of dignity and self-restraint, and circumspect speech; in their old age they had mental problems and sometimes said things that were terribly embarrassing and very uncharacteristic of them.

I mean folks I'd never heard say a single off-color word, suddenly spouting the most vile filth and then not remembering it fifteen minutes later.

It is very sad to see someone lose themselves in this way.
