At airport. Security did the full body scanner with public "pat down" because there was an anamoly on my genital region. I am so humiliated atm almost ready to say screw this flight.

Most embarressing experience of life.

I've been randomly chosen for a complete carry-on search (emptied everything) and "pat down". Observers should presume it's a random check.

They thought you had a weapon in your underwear?

Unless one is very privileged, flying is never very pleasant. So don't feel badly about the way you were treated. It isn't personal and it is lousy for all.

Sucks. One of the many reasons I don't fly.

Poor baby. If you can't handle a body scanner what do you do with the rest of life's challenges?

I'm sorry but a body scan is probably the easiest thing I have ever done in life. And at my age a pat down would be a thrill. LOL

I just don't get people that whine about this. Sure beats being blown to bits at 30,000 feet!

It's not the what, it's the why and how.

it was the comment that offended

TSA is mall security cops on steroids.

I have seen fat out of shape bags of cellulite in TSA uniforms trying to look tough and just shake my head.

But if you want to fly you have to put up with their shenanigans.

99.9% of the passengers are unarmed and have no intentions of harming anyone. We are paying their salaries and if not for us they would be greeting you at Wal Mart.

I wouldn't take it personal, many of us have been checked in places we don't want to be touched by strangers. Think of it this way. What they thought of as an anomaly could have been someone's weapon of choice and been used to bring down your flight. Count your blessings that these guys are thorough. To spare the next person from feeling humiliated, be an advocate and take the officer aside, or better yet talk to a supervisor, and advise him/them how to be more sensible?

meh pick the trans gal to pat down for anamoly in pants...

I almost always get the full security treatment, body scans, pat downs, rifling through my stuff. Not sure why but my wife thinks its hilarious.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I've never been patted down before, but man, I hope I never am.

my amazement is that the TSA staff were actually able to discern an anomaly

Be a trendsetter, smile. I'm sure you knew that your journey wouldn't be easy. They don't come across trans gals every day. Educate them.

Many of us have been embarrassed by airport security, even before 9/11.

Has happened twice to me, once before and once after. One, before, was a bag search conducted in full view of the other passengers where the male searcher opened my suitcase and proceeded to remove about twenty Kotex pads and lay them aside.

The second time I was almost arrested because I was separated from my fanny pack going thru the X-ray machine for a random personal pat down. I refused to move until my fanny pack came thru because I was on my way to Vegas, and it had five grand in it. Two TSA agents forcibly removed me from the conveyor, and it wasn’t until the X-ray viewer said, “I’ve got it for you” that I stopped struggling. The only reason I wasn’t arrested is because when she brought it to me, they opened it and saw the cash and my ticket to Vegas.

I really wasn’t embarrassed the second time, but I can definitely feel your pain.

Why be embarrassed? I would have told him they make great sweat absorbers when you stick them under the ball cap.

You have to remember who the majority of these people are; They get a whole 2 weeks training, do not even need a HS diploma ( GED accepted) Do not have to be US citizens, and are trained to conduct their work through rote memorization...no critical thinking is involved.
If that 2 year old child is on the no fly list? That kids clearly a threat to US security and isn't going to fly that day.

I have been stopped more times than I care to count for "random interviews".....why? My passport looks like a small town phone book and 80% of the Visa's and exit stamps come from the Middle East and Central Asia, and I only travel with a backpack...Show them the front of the Passport ( Black), and the lights are STILL slow to come on upstairs.

So while many TSA screeners and Agents do their job well.....there are just as many that shouldn't be trusted to walk your dog.

If you are a veteran, detroit is the best airport in the world. Skip the security lines, get 20% off everything. really good people.

Uh, this might be the clumsiest attempt at trying to help in the history of DP, but obviously the TSA person recognized you for the lady you are, therefore something being in that "area" didn't seem right.

Lousy for one, and only one, reason: attacks on aviation by Islamic terrorists. And lousy for all because authorities, with the sole exception of the Israelis, are scared to do the sensible thing, profile.

And fails to stop virtually all of the tests to determine if it is working. The agents get the fake guns/bombs etc. through almost every time.

It is for show. Little else.
