Humiliated at airport security

I always end up standing behind the human tattoo that has about 3 pounds of metal pierced into his face. 10 pounds of chain holding his wallet to his belt, a metal spiked bracelets ( on each wrist) studded belt..

To be honest I only take a plane in emergencies or if it is more than a days drive (8hrs). I live 2 hours from Philly and until it is more than an 8n hr. drive it is not worth flying anymore. When I add up the cost of driving both ways to Philly, cost of parking, The 2 hr. jerk around at the airport, the possibility of sitting on the tarmac for hours due to weather, the cost of tickets, the uncomfortable seats (I am 6'3" 300lbs.), lost luggage, extra charges for luggage, all the restrictions on what I can bring, rental car where I am going, and the fact it takes all day to get there. I can get there quicker driving for a lot less money and bring anything I need. Plus there is no hassle if plans change and I need to come back early or later.

Plus I love to see this county. I usually plan trips so I can see things I haven't seen yet along the way. I love stopping in cities getting out walking around, shopping, site seeing, and finding a nice place to eat. Plus I meet so many nice interesting people. It is nothing for me to spend several weeks driving some where.

I suppose I am fortunate to have an international airport in just a 20 minute drive from my house.

My son will be getting his private pilot license week after next, so I suppose I will probably be flying with him in the future. It's not quite as cheap to rent a plane as it is to fly commercial, but he's trying to get enough flight hours to get his commercial license, so if I split the cost of the plane rental with him, it will be good for him and me both. No security line, no tickets to buy, just reserve the plane and go.

Sucks. One of the many reasons I don't fly.

Flying sucks. I do it only when I have to. And, when that happens, I put my ego on hold for the duration. A good book helps. So too does sneaking a few hits off my vape behind everyone's back. My idea of the big "**** You!"

It must sound like that to them. Seriously, there is a known IRA terrorist who has my same name, but I believe he is retired now.

Does he get a pension?

We got several small airports where I go for plane rides. I was thinking of getting a pilots license when I retire. I know a lot of the young pilots trying to get their hours in so If I pay for the gas they take me for a scenic ride. But even that gets expensive. Planes are by no means fuel efficient. Lot of people think I am crazy because they don't have much experience. How do you get experience without just doing it. I believe when it is your time to go nothing in this world can stop it. So live life to its fullest and get as much bang for the buck as you can. You only go around once.

I just can't comprehend all these people living in fear. Go for the gusto and stop trying to control everyone and everything.

At airport. Security did the full body scanner with public "pat down" because there was an anamoly on my genital region. I am so humiliated atm almost ready to say screw this flight.

Most embarressing experience of life.

Literally the only reason the TSA exists.

Poor baby. If you can't handle a body scanner what do you do with the rest of life's challenges?

I'm sorry but a body scan is probably the easiest thing I have ever done in life. And at my age a pat down would be a thrill. LOL

I just don't get people that whine about this. Sure beats being blown to bits at 30,000 feet!

I get what you are saying but given the dismal results the TSA received in tests it is hardly a given that it makes you "safe" or even safer I'm afraid.

So the thread has been abandoned by the OP?

I've stood in those lines a few times this month. What a colossal cluster****. What runs through my mind is the obvious: If I was a suicide bomber, this would be my point of attack, right here.

Shh, dont give them any ideas. If a bomber does that people will have to be screened outside of airports from then on lol.

I only go back to the US every couple of years now and its usually just one stop so I hardly notice it. In the international front I dont feel hassled in foreign airports. There's usually a separate line for business class so I dont wait too long. If I take a local flight the wait is more on the entire plane not taking off because they are waiting for a transfer passenger to get into the cabin.
