Oh yea, you most definitely can. Cosby can attest to that. But can you make one that wont turn around and bite in the ass in an instant? That's the trick. AC Cobras are probably the poster child of making anything go fast. They were wicked fast and a moments marginal decision would kill you. Modern cars like the Camaro and Corvette have all the performance of the Cobra and none of the bite.

That's outrageous for a car. Any car. The most I've ever spent on a car was $12,000 and it was a pickup truck that I can haul things in more than a watermelon in two bags of groceries, and four wheel drive.
I can build the faster car for Less.

They don't last long though all the plastic crackles up and starts flopping.
Besides I'm more of a Ford and Dodge fan.

So? You can hardly modify them maybe if you put a hundred grand in it when you get boost it up to 800 horsepower. It's still a front-wheel drive understeering shopping cart. And it's still made out of Hefty bags.
Anybody with a socket set and a basic understanding can easily put 200 more horsepower into a Mustang. Better yet a Torino. And if I had a hundred grand blow on it I can get 4000 horsepower.
They don't put for bangers in heavy duty trucks they don't put for bangers in funny cars.
Because there is no replacement for displacement.
Further a freaking Honda a car seat hauler has 6-speed transmission why? I'll tell you why it has an anemic engine. They play with gear ratios. I drove a Mack truck that had 6 speed transmission. I hated driving those cars with five and six speeds. You have to clutch in the shift in the middle of an intersection. I think that is the number one reason manual transmissions have gone out of style. You're not hauling anything why do you need such short torque ranges?
