Woman who wore fake penis, tricked blindfolded friend into having sex with her sentenced | Fox News

A British woman who pretended to be a man by wearing a prosthetic penis and tricking her blindfolded friend into having sex with her was sentenced Thursday to 6 ½ years in prison.Gayle Newland, 27, was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault in June after a retrial,

The friend said in court she was unaware Newland was Fortune because she was always wearing a blindfold when they met. Newland would then wear a strap-on prosthetic penis when they had sex."There was no point until the day I took the blindfold off that I thought for one second that a woman was the person behind this,”

So a woman is stupid enough to agree to wear a blindfold every single time she meets this girl, and even agrees to sex with a blindfold....

The level of oddness here is astounding.

I'm having trouble understanding a crime of sexual assault. It was consensual sex. Blindfolded, but consensual. Idiotic, but consensual.

Other than gross-stupidity, was a crime committed here? Deserving of 6+ years in prison?

Oh my God, that girl is stupid. Who the **** agrees to be blindfolded in that kind of situation?

Well, two separate courts, who had all of the first hand evidence in details rather than the sensationalist tabloid overviews we have access to, found her guilty so it would take some specific reason to convince me otherwise; I don’t think your (or for that matter my) confusion over the whole situation is sufficient.

I do think that in general any nativity or ignorance on the part of a victim shouldn’t offer defence or mitigation for deliberate acts of deception and consent could be invalidated if that consent is given on the basis of deception.

this sounds absolutely unbelievable and some sort of hoax.

Hey - blindfolds can be fun, but every time you meet somebody, including the very first time???? And the first time you have sex???????

Is it sexual assault for a guy to lie about his own wealth to get a girl into bed?

The girl in the OP consented to being blindfolded on every occasion she spent any time with her "boyfriend". Consented.
Consented to sex while blindfolded.

How can you consent to sex - then have it turn into a crime of sexual assault?

There has to be more to this story or its fake as hell. How the hell would anyone willingly meet someone new blindfolded AND have sex with them while never having seen them?

BBC post about it:

Prosthetic penis sex attacker Gayle Newland jailed - BBC News

A woman who wore a prosthetic penis and tricked her blindfolded friend into sex has been jailed.
Gayle Newland, 27, of Willaston, Cheshire, created an online persona pretending to be a man and continued the deceit for two years.
A retrial jury found her guilty of committing three sexual assaults, which she denied, using a prosthetic penis without her victim's consent.

She clearly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

If I was her, I'd have at the very least checked if that "dude" who I was having sex with, was actually who he said he was.

I don't get it either. It's very hard to believe somebody can be that oblivious and stupid.

Gross stupidity should have been the charge and the wrong one got arrested.

So tell me - was a "crime" worthy of prison time committed?

Wait so if I tell some girl I'm rich so that she will sleep with me and I'm not rich that's rape?

Apparently the sharpest tool in the shed was 12" long.

Way too many bad jokes in this story.

Seeing as it was consensual sex, and it wasn't sexual assault, I don't know if it's worthy of 6 years in prison. She should however, definitely get the 6 additional months she received for defrauding her employers.

Man, this case is so ****ing weird.

not to mention some very practical questions about activities during these episodes and ones previously knowledge of the human body being brought into question.

Blindfolded AND she never heard her voice? That's really odd.
I can see the blindfold part, that sounds rare but thrilling for some of the dare-devils out there.
But didn't talk either? That's pretty trusting.

In any case, I agree, what crime? They dated, they had consensual sex. And?

He added: "It is difficult to conceive of a deceit so degrading or so damaging for the victim upon its discovery."
She looks pretty cute, what's so degrading and damaging? Look, after sex with a stranger, it's reported to be normal to sometimes feel dirty and wrong, etc., that's not something you can jail them for!?! Is it??

I can assure you that a woman who meets someone via facebook, never hears their voice (?) (or did you have a male accomplice?), and proceeds to have sex blindfolded...I don't think that it was a girl changes the oddity much at all.

If it were her sister or something...maybe.

Way back in 85 when I was stationed at Nellis AFB, we had a young airman in tears sobbing to the 1st Sergeant...he had been dating a girl for about a year til they decided to get married. There had been some above the belt hanky panky and the girl had given several blow jobs, but allowed no reciprocal below the belt contact til after marriage. On the wedding night the new bride controlled the sex...lights out...she was shy dont you know. On like the third night of their honeymoon the airman made contact with something that wasnt supposed to be there while they were having intercourse. He turned on the lights to find that his beautiful new bride was in fact a man. Shocked...horrified...he asked what to do. The 1st Sgt told him right away...get the marriage annulled and stay away from the guy because if you see him you might snap and kill him. The airmans response...deeper sobs. But I LOVE her......

Dood was pretty ****ed up for a long time after that.

Yeah...its a criminal act. Its more than just the physical contact.

If you read more about it she heard 'his' voice and the blindfold and mask was because 'he' had been in an accident and was ashamed and embarrassed by his looks.

This was the bi-product of an online relationship. The preprtrator had actually created a false male persona on Facebook over a dozen years previously. The feelings and emotional connection were established long before they first met. My guess is the victim (unidentified-she testified behind a screen) probably has some pretty horrible self esteem and was fairly easily manipulated emotionally.

Saying it was consensual and therefore not criminal....would it have been criminal if the woman had blindfolded her and then had a male friend come in and commit the sexual act? I mean...even though it was someone else committing the act it would still be consensual...right?

This is no different.

I can understand charges for posing as someone else, but there has to be some personal responsibility, I mean, no voice, no visual, but has sex... that's willful risk taking IMO. In general, people lead each other on in relationships, especially internet, all the time...that's not a crime in itself.

I don't quite get what her friend did it for either, the thrill? To blackmail her? Embarrass her? Such a long con for a thrill? Wow.

I wonder if that's a U.S. law thing too. Can't be consensual if the other person hides their identity... seems so crazy to think it's not incumbent on the other party to do normal, customary verification with eyes/ears. Personal responsibility should be the first line of defense in these things, IMO. She had every opportunity to refuse or verify, she forfeited those IMO.

Maybe your second post describes it best. Assuming she crafted that identify and hid it from the partner...the partner only consented with the "fake identity", not the actual girl...

So bizarre.
