Feminism and sexy female careers

I bet you do believe in many of the things about being a feminist though.. like making your own choice NOT be get married to a guy and be a baby factory.

Many egalitarians refuse to label themselves as feminists because they don't want to be associated with 3rd wave feminists.

I can honestly see, and understand, a feminist potentially seeing it either way depending on their approach to and view of their ideology on the matter.

What I can not square away in my head however, are ones who simultaneously have no issue with women working such jobs and, to the contrary, find them actually EMPOWERING while at the same time finding that men who partake in such things are acting in an inherently sexist fashion. If there's nothing wrong or to be ashamed with in embracing ones sexuality, then equally should be nothing wrong with an individual consensually enjoying and indulging in the viewing or sharing of said sexuality as well. I don't get the girl that will simultaneously go "Guys are disgusting pigs!" for them going to a strip club while going "You go girl! Embrace your empowerment!" to the strippers.

Women's biological purpose is to make babies..

Lesbians?
Sterile women?
Women who repeatedly miscarry?

Men's biological purpose is to impregnate women.

Gay men?
Sterile men?
Impotent men?

In our world women are starting to pretend they are not in fact females.

I think we can interpret that as women are starting to realise they don't have to conform to your rigid sterotype of what being female is, and you don't like that.
Strong independent women are often threatening to sexist men, which makes them produce all the ususal tired rhetoric about women not being real women, pretending to be men, not being feminine, yawn yawn yawn.

My function in this world was not to make babies. I applaud the choice of all women who have become mothers because they desired to become mothers, and I pity those who have reluctantly reproduced due to societal, family or religious pressure.

I didn't want to reproduce. I voluntarily had my tubes tied and never regretted it. I would now in any case be too old for motherhood. And no, being childless does not make me empty, incomplete, unfulfilled or any of those other clichés. And I have never pretended that I am not female.

Are you Jim Davidson, by any chance?

When I mean stigma, I mean the recent trend of women denouncing their female organs and saying things like "I am not made to make babies" when in reality they are. We understand that women have fought to get out of the house wife phase of humanity but that does not mean women have suddenly lost their function.

BIOLOGICAL WARNING - I WILL BE MAKING FACTUAL POINTS ON BIOLOGY.

Women's biological purpose is to make babies.
Men's biological purpose is to impregnate women.

Men are happy to say "this is my biological purpose but I choose not to go that path"
women are NOT happy to say "this is my biological purpose but I choose not to go that path"

An analogy for this is the movie 'Planes' (first analogy that came to mind =D)

In planes there is a crop duster (plane used to fertilize crops) that dreams to be a racing plane. Not only does he become a racing plane but he doesn't pretend he isn't a crop duster.

In our world women are starting to pretend they are not in fact females.

It is also man's purpose to go around hunting lions to feed the tribe but I didn't do that today either.

We as a species operate far beyond our 'natural' or 'biological' purpose. We make art and build places and stuff, man. Who gives a toss what our natural purpose is.

Remember too that at lot of these jobs that were once set aside for good looking women now include a smattering of fat women, because politics.

I desperately hope that this problem does not get worse.

Aside from the fact that what some would call "fat" others see as normal or full bodied (Megahn Trainor is considered fat by some people), there is also the fact that quite a number of people prefer others who are in the "larger" sizes. What has changed is not necessarily politics, save maybe in that it is no longer impolitic to admit that you prefer such sizes.

As for the nobility of stripping or hooking as, say, compared to nursing, there isn't a comparison. I think most women find themselves in these professions because of a lack of options rather than some "calling."

The nobility of any given profession is a subjective matter. Yes, you can show whether or not a majority hold similar opinions or not, but that doesn't change the subjective nature of it. A good example would be courtesans. While these women were really nothing more than educated and cultured prostitutes (with no intent of a judgement for or against), their profession was considered a highly noble one.

Many people have. Albeit more so in older and previous generations. That point-of-view has a long history.

While exposure of the body has been all but a taboo throughout all of history and mankind, what that consists of varies greatly. In some societies, anything beyond hands and face was considered scandalous, while there are tribes in Africa where bare chested women aren't thought twice about, but showing their legs is a major no no.

Eunuchs were too, but I'm talking about today in the USA. There are very well paid and educated women who are professional "companions." (And, of course, there are the female celebrities who "yacht" at this time of year, picking up six figures for an evening or weekend's companionship.) Strippers are at the sad end of this socio-economic scale, at least in my limited observation. I do have a very headstrong young relative who "dances" and "bartends." If she completed her GED, she'd have more options.

This is true, and what is worse it feels like we are expected to cheer that the said to be nearly 300LB mass of Rebel Wilson can make a go of it as an Actor (Actress is increasingly a not allowed term dontcha know), but I dont feel like it.
