Indian minister offers new brides a bat to beat husbands.

In USA, it is much easier for a woman to abuse a man. If he defends himself he will likely get a conviction.

Men are convicted when they do more than necessary for defense. There's plenty of "men's rights" "advocates" on this forum that think it's fine to go nuts just because a drunk woman takes a swing.

Self defense is not based on the actions of others, it's based on stopping a threat. 99% of the time, there is no real threat - just men who want to beat women looking for an excuse.

In USA a woman can physically abuse a man -- she is not likely to be prosecuted, she would be considered a hero rather then a batterer. She is encouraged to do so by multitude of films which glorify the abuse of men. Any man who retaliates, like Joe Mixon is considered the worst kind of a criminal and most of such men receive long prison sentences.

My point is that all men should feel sympathy for men like Joe Mixon, who do not passively submit to abuse. There is no law against supporting them.

Things are improving slightly in this regard, as the abuse of men got to be so bad that the state could no longer deny it.

That's apologism for beating women, nothing more.

Since when is self defense retaliation? Kinda showing your hand there.

Since in intimate partner violence we hit back in order to defend ourselves from an ongoing attack. .

I argue too, and you have no right to act all high and mighty till/unless you beat me.

That wouldn't be self defense. You're only capable of beating yourself.

On personal level, Joe Mixon broke the Laws of USA and faced very much infamy for doing so. He could have lost his career and gotten a long prison term. According to the Laws of USA he had to submit to abuse.

On societal level his actions have a different effect. Violence against men by women is almost never penalized. It is celebrated in many movies as empowerment. An average American has seen thousands of female heroes beating up men. There are many greeting carts encouraging worst violence by women against men. All of that encourages female on male DV. Even though such abuse is common, it would have been much more common if it involved no risk.

The fact that some men respond with disproportional force makes abuse of any man risky. It prevents most men from becoming abused.
