A university will be hosting a “Masculinity Confession Booth” along with a number of other workshops and screenings to combat “hypermasculinity.”

“We have all reinforced hypermasculinity one way or another regardless of our gender!!” explains the University of Regina event description. “Come and share your sins so we can begin to discuss how to identify and change our ways !!!”

The “Man Up Against Violence” initiative will be hosting these events at the University of Regina in Canada during the present week. Students Share Their Sins At 'Masculinity Confession Booth' | The Daily Caller

I'm not at all sure that I've reinforced "hypermasculinity," but it's said that confession is good for the soul, so maybe this one-off will spark similar "confession booths."

**** this ****. Just more anti-masculinity anti-male bull****.

This ****ing bull**** uses male culture against itself in the attempt to craft it in the way many times women or and leftists want. **** these people.

This is exactly the feminist meddling bull**** that I complain about regularly:

Man Up Against Violence aims to reduce violence, but also challenges “social norms surrounding masculinity.” The group’s introductory video criticizes the stereotypical view of men as macho and unemotional, linking this to spousal abuse by asserting that men have violent outbursts as a result of pent-up emotions.

and **** this guy too:

“We don’t have to continue to live in a misogynistic society,” says Tyler Perkins, a football player at the University of Regina, in the video. “I think [changing this] falls on everyone and especially men because quite frankly we are the problem right now.”

I think it's hilarious that a handful of Canadians can do something that has no effect on your life whatsoever and you get this emotional. Everyone must act exactly how you want them to or you'll just throw a hissy-fit, huh?

This is sexist bull**** and feminists in the US and around the world have been doing it for a while. Was I not supposed to notice that's it's sexist and a stupid attempt to change men by using their culture against them? Feminists have to stop trying to claim masculinity is the problem and then guilt tripping men with this ****. This is actually a great example of why people think feminists are anti-male.

^ You triggered much, henrin?

It doesn't take much these days.

Again, this behavior by feminists isn't new and it's exactly why they have 18% percent support and are considered anti-male. If they want to boost their numbers and change their image this kind of stuff needs to stop.

As soon as I saw the thread title I knew Henrin would go off. :)

I hope stuff like this never stops...
Not because I believe in it necessarily...

But just because it's so much fun to watch the socially-awkward, inferior males complain about this stuff.

Then watch the support for feminism die. I would actually love for it to die, so in that way I suppose this kind of stuff could serve a valid purpose.

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

I got in touch with my feminine side 45 years ago...when I grabbed it and tossed it aside. ;)

I have no problems with my "role" as a male. I still hold doors for women, let them precede me in lines and into rooms, cede my seat to them (and to the elderly or disabled); defend them from assault and abuse (as I do for children and the elderly) and risk my life and physical health to guard them from dangers.

I also refuse to put up with B/S from women any more than I would from any male. If this makes me a "chauvinist," so be it.

I have NOTHING to apologize for, and I don't think many men do. :coffeepap:

I see no reason to give women my seat unless their pregnant or otherwise in need.

I thought gender identity and gender expression was a protected right according to the progressives? I guess that gender expression through "hypermasculinity" is not protected since it isn't politically correct nor is it progressive leaning. WTF is hypermasculinity? To know that, we must first define masculinity. Which must be bad, by definition since too much of it is even worse -- hence the term HYPER-masculinity.

Amazing how the voices of inclusion tend to exclude a hell of a lot people and even natural states of being, depending on who is the target of their self anointed enmity de jure.

If this is about violence, and working on reducing the incidence of violence, then let's not use violence to taint one half of the worlds population (the masculine gender of the species) as susceptible to unwittingly perpetrating violent acts due solely to their gender. Hypermasculinity? Maybe use hyperviolent tendency or some other term that defines the problem without castigating an entire gender.

I'm tired of being painted as bad by some, simply due to the fact that I have testis and that those testis produce testosterone which influences body type, muscular development, and even the brain and all it's functions including emotions and motivations for actions.

No one thought it bad when I and many others used our testis and testosterone to get hypermasculine with violent tendencies against the enemies of the American people that chose not to stand up and get hypermasculine with us. We didn't complain either, and I'm not complaining now. In fact, I'm glad that those that didn't have the level of testosterone required and the intellectual capacity to utilize both brain and brawn, intelligently chose to pursue other avenues. (See how saying things on this subject can sound harsh and harmful depending on whether masculinity or lack thereof is framed as a good thing or bad?)

None of the above is to be construed as or used to accuse me of supporting or excusing violent acts upon innocent people by men that cannot control their own actions or choose to believe that due to their being male that they have the right to harm, belittle, or subjugate others. We already have more than enough words in English language to describe such people without inventing new ones. So, please, don't use terms that by their very etymology will also include me and my sons. who I taught to embrace their masculinity and become southern gentlemen, a very rare breed today.

You have every right to be that way. Being a gentleman is not required to be a member of our society. If I see a man sitting with a woman standing right next to him, then I know immediately what he is, and what he is not.

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

The topic definitely has merit. In hindsight raising a family, I could have tempered my use of implied threats... and invested more effort creating a less vertical intra-family power structure. I think families benefit the more input every member of the family has to influence family decisions.

It seems silly to me that a certain part of society expects all men to stand so all women can sit.

Some people need to stand. Some men need to sit while some women don't. But all people can be gentlefolk and offer their seat or open the door simply to be generous of spirit.

That's not what chivalry says on the matter. According to chivalry if you're a man that is sitting and there is a woman standing you're required to give her your seat. In a chivalrous society that functions as it should men would always be the party left standing.

That's not the way I was taught. Of course, I was born in the knuckle-dragging 20th century and never even had to wear a chastity belt.

All my life I've opened doors or given up my seat when I thought this was needed, and this is how I reared my children too. If you prefer to stand on gender-ceremony, that's your choice.

Women are not taught these things. My mother taught me that it is proper of a man to give up his seat for a woman, to open the door for a woman, to carry heavy things for women, to let a woman go first, etc, etc, etc, etc. Chivalry is not about doing what is needed to be kind, but about teaching men how to interact with women in their daily lives and in their relationships.

Even liberals support chivalry, which is weird since they claim they don't.

That's not true, I was once yelled at by a woman for holding the door open for her and she lectured me until I informed her I thought she was a man. The Mullet, wife beater and hairy armpits threw me off a little.
