Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’[W:40:56]

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

Yes, people should be outraged that colleges think it is their place to deprogram men. What these colleges are trying to do is socially engineer the behavior of men to be what they want it to be. What exactly gives them the authority to know what is best of men and how they should act? Would these feminists tolerate men doing the same thing to women?

Hopefully, the students who object will be able to come up with some way to get out of the required confessions.

Maybe we should set up a fund to help them with their legal fees when they're expelled for not participating in this event.

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

When were you programmed and who did it.

One of the main ideas here is that men are raised a certain way, which causes all sorts of bad behavior tendencies that these liberal feminist professors are fit and right to resolve. For example, hypermasculinity theory says pretty much outright that the way men are raised to deal with and express their emotions is wrong and must be corrected in order to resolve hypermasculinity tendencies.

Being raised is programming? I suppose, for some. Just because one's father is a meat-headed bigot does not mean "reprogramming" is wrong.

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

So you agree with colleges reprogramming men?

I agree with the fact that they want to stop the violence that such men perpetrate. But then I have no problem with trying to stop violent tendency's no matter the persons gender.

But plain fact of that matter is that such men can't be "reprogrammed". It has to do with testosterone levels in the body being exceptionally high. Only thing that could fix that would be a chemical balancing type pill.

Ooo, ooo, Can I be secretary of the treasury?

A university will be hosting a “Masculinity Confession Booth” along with a number of other workshops and screenings to combat “hypermasculinity.”

“We have all reinforced hypermasculinity one way or another regardless of our gender!!” explains the University of Regina event description. “Come and share your sins so we can begin to discuss how to identify and change our ways !!!”

The “Man Up Against Violence” initiative will be hosting these events at the University of Regina in Canada during the present week. Students Share Their Sins At 'Masculinity Confession Booth' | The Daily Caller

I'm not at all sure that I've reinforced "hypermasculinity," but it's said that confession is good for the soul, so maybe this one-off will spark similar "confession booths."

It depends on what they are confessing. Some of this may actually be of benefit.

In my younger days, I was probably enough of a lout who mistreated women that a little "come to Jesus" time would have been of benefit. It certainly would have saved my early live-in gf's and first wife a lot of grief. Hell, I never really figured it all out until sometime in my mid 40's. And, even then, it still took me a few more years to figure out the only way to really kill the instant asshole bug was to just quit drinking.

Then you agree with such things as teaching men how to approach and define masculinity? For example, I would be guilty of hypermasculinity because of what I consider to be weak. Should I be reprogrammed to think of weakness as feminists want me too? Oh and no, it actually doesn't have a thing to do with high testosterone levels. Violent tendencies and high testosterone levels has been shown to be bunk science. Men with low levels or high levels of testosterone can have violent tendencies. In fact, there is no truth behind the idea that high testosterone levels causes high aggression or even anger.

It's well established that everyone is in part a product of their environment.

Not all environments are "programming". Some implore critical thinking.

No, all environments people are raised in and live in affect how they think and interact with the world around them.

Directly you are right. Indirectly you are wrong. As with anything else in life...its not a black and white thing.

Strange but True: Testosterone Alone Does Not Cause Violence

In any case, I see no problem in teaching men, and women, to not resort to violence at the drop of a hat. It is always better to think before you act. It's amazing how many people don't do that.

No, all environments people are raised in and live in affect how they think and interact with the world around them.

And not all of those environments are programming. Only abusive environments could be called programming. Fostering critical thinking and self evaluation is not programming, and that's the environment I was raised in.

Most people do not resort to violence at the drop of a hat. I would love to know what evidence they have that what men are raised to believe is masculine is what is causing men to become violent. I imagine everything they will list is things I either believe or my father did and neither one of us has a criminal record or ever assaulted anyone. Also, that theory is bunk too. Men with lower and higher levels of testosterone are known to seek dominance

Is that why you believe in western values and liberal ideology?

From there these hapless bastards will become season ticket holders to Promise Keeper (Penis Keeper) events.

No thank you very much, I like my balls right where they are.

"Liberal ideology"? I'm pro-life, pro-gun, a fiscal conservative and a foreign interventionist. My favorite president of recent times is Bush 2.

All of my values and ideology are derived by me myself through critical thinking. I was not programmed. I was not reprogrammed. No one else in my family is a vegetarian or a libertarian. I'm the only person in my family to serve in the military.

I would consider any programming to be abuse, whether original or reprogramming. Why do you frame masculinity in abuse?

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

"Liberal ideology"?

Meh. Anytime someone likes Henrin uses "liberal ideology" as a pejorative, I hit my mental snooze alarm. That kind of idiocy ain't worth rousing for.

This is truly the worst thing that has ever happened ever.

Re: Students Confess Their Sins At ‘Masculinity Confession Booth’

I think it's hilarious that a handful of Canadians can do something that has no effect on your life whatsoever and you get this emotional. Everyone must act exactly how you want them to or you'll just throw a hissy-fit, huh?

I think that it's hilarious that you're here commenting not on the normalization of sexism but about someone being upset about it.

To what normalization of sexism do you refer?

You missed the OP, I assume.

The OP of course. What the OP speaks towards is a form of sexism that is socially acceptable.
