What has happened to MEN?[W:104]

Re: What has happened to MEN?

What now? We were talking about women that sleep with many partners over a relatively short period of time.

You were the one who said, in response to Calamity's point about male birds having beautiful feathers:
You're talking about a species that mates for reproduction and has one partner their whole life and comparing that to sleazy behavior by humans.

The problem with that argument is that most species do not have a partner for life, not even the ones with beautiful feathers.

Re: What has happened to MEN?

I still think this is a very small number of women. I guess you'd have to define " sleep with many partners over a relatively short period of time" though before we can argue in detail. Is it 5 partners in a lifetime? 5 a year? 5 a month? A week? A day?

What exactly are we talking about when you say "many"?
He likes to be vague about these things, implying that if we don't already know, we must be ignorant.

Many different kind of birds do mate for life.

Re: What has happened to MEN?

He probably thought you were expressing an untoward interest by observing his workout so closely. What message did you think you were giving him by staring at the guy running on that treadmill? Probably thought you were an old pervert.

You both are thinking too much. Interest, yes. Untoward, no. My question to 45Loyalist is this: Did you want the man to lie to you?

Re: What has happened to MEN?

You probably looked like the kind of guy, an obvious homophobe, i would say that too, just to piss you off

And when stretching and you asked if i'm a track star, i would say "Nope, working my ****, want to help me out?"

I wouldn't go that far. The guy at the gym was asked a question and gave a truthful answer. It's that simple.

Interesting fact. Scientists did DNA testing of some birds that 'mated for life', and 50% of the eggs were not fertilized by the 'partner' of the female.

Working your butt has no real advantages to overall fitness, so men just don't work on it. Still, like I said, if men work on their legs then they will work on their butt by extension and essentially void out the argument anyway.

That group of muscles helps you mobilize in general.Walk, run, climb...etc. They help you maintain posture etc.

So yes, it is involved in overall fitness.

It is one of many muscles that if toned and strengthened can lead to overall fitness.

It is odd that somehow some have decided that he is only about the butt.

And frankly, why not like the fact that your exercise will improve your appearance and self confidence. Why the hell not?

I am dying to see a picture of this guy with a beautiful butt, then lacking overall to strength and tone everywhere else . It defies comprehension that this guy is only working his ass.

It defies comprehension that one would believe that running on maximum incline only works the butt.

I guess female birdies do a lot of cheating.

How do you know it is truthful?

The point is that men don't work on their ass.

Not true. You should work that ass so the next time you get hammered by a strap on (or a real one), you won't be left in tears

Re: What has happened to MEN?

First, it needs to be noted that poly does not automatically equal promiscuity. There are many closed poly marriages out there. That said, the point remains that simply because a behavior isn't part of the statistical norm, that does not mean that it is bad or detrimental to individuals or society, as many here would like to believe.

Sure, IMO, a committed poly relationship is just a form of enhanced monogamy. If I exclusively sleep with two wives or one, what difference does that really make?

I was referring to outright promiscuous behavior: sleeping with multiple new partners on a weekly basis. That **** is risky as hell, no matter who you are: male, female, gay straight; even with "protection." At the very least your chances of picking up Mr or Ms Goodbar are increased exponentially.

I guess you would know about that.

Re: What has happened to MEN?

Mom's dont teach their sons, fathers do, generally.

I'm sorry but that is just a ridiculous thing to say. The mother is, and has always been, the teacher. "The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world" is one of the truest sayings ever spoken. When there is no father in the picture because of a divorce and he shows no interest in his kids, tis the mother who teaches. Decades ago, strong women taught and made strong sons and daughters. I think (my personal opinion here so please don't ask for quotes/evidence sources) that some boys and young teenagers treat their, usually single, mothers like dirt because they don't respect them...either because they are screwing anything with a heartbeat in an effort to find happiness, or they are don't strong enough to discipline their son effectively and appear weak.

Fathers teach their sons many things, but don't dismiss the role of the mother in shaping her son's life.

Re: What has happened to MEN?

Was he wearing a man bun?

I swear, next time I go to the city my pocket knife will be sharpened and I'm gonna start collecting those thing.
I'll put 'em in shoe boxes with tissue paper like kids used to do with birds nests.

That's gotta be the worst look ever. Who could possibly think that's a good look on a man? I would think even gay men think it looks too gay.

Is that you in your avatar with the long hair? I had long hair when I was a kid, and my dad was about as happy about it as I am about man buns.

That's me, on the left. Was me. High school,40-some-odd years ago. I haven't changed much since, though. (yeah right)
Difference, I think, is we grew our hair out the way young men have always put themselves out there, showing strength and attitude. That's how it was where I grew up. We skimmed the cream off the hippie culture (music and drugs) but just ask anyone from the Vancouver area about Surrey boys.
Those man-buns are some apologetic, trying-to-not-offend expression of metro-sexuality that looks like a surrender to an urban, apartment existence that says "I'll never change an oil filter or sharpen a saw chain but I know the whole Starbucks coffee menu".
Shouldn't bug me, but I'm getting grouchy like my old man did.

Agreed, even though I grew my hair out, never went in for any of that girlie man ****.

Lol on the Starbucks thing. I absolutely REFUSE to use their stupid size designations. :D

Oh, and I sharpened my new Stihl just the other day. Okay, I was clearing some trees to build a cat enclosure, but they're my wife's cats and it wasn't my idea dammit! :2mad:

I don't know....the man bun may be odd....but the combover is way worse. Men who have severe male pattern baldness are now owning it - and going all the way. I appreciate that.;)
