Ivanka's Bull**** Feminism

Not as easy as you make it sound. Court history is simply LITTERED with cases of failed sexual harassment suits. Not to mention, unless the job is great, just how hard are you willing to fight, how far are you willing to go, how much **** are you willing to eat just to keep that job? And oh, by the way, surrender all hope of future advancement, because post lawsuit/high level complaint, you'll always be that person.

Things were changing for the better. Our company has zero tolerance for that crap. But, it certainly does not help when Ivanka undermines progress by minimizing the serious nature of hoots and whistles.

You chose to respond to my post about how I enjoy male experts' opinions of sexual harassment of women.

Who claimed to be an expert? Your attack was poorly judged, if you won't accept support on the issue from men then that says more about the state of women than it does the men.

*headdesk*

Yup, great for women who can afford to flit between jobs like that, not so great when they are living from paycheck to paycheck. If you are in a good enough position that you can afford to do that then that is great, plenty of people working minimum wage don't have that luxury.

You make a good point.

This isn't a trans thread. Feel free to start one though.

Just checking your flip flop for you but, I guess women aren't 'icky' enough for you are they.

You are probably right but, laws can be changed and they won't get changed if people do walk away, especially those with the means to mount a challenge.

So, Henrin --- what is an example of sexual harassment?

Also, do you think it's normal for men to approach strange women and comment on their boobs?

Honestly, I don't agree with the laws for pretty much the same reason I don't agree with the New York law that makes it illegal to call a transgender by non-preferred pronouns in the workplace.

So what would be an example of sexual harassment in your eyes?

Ah right, only if they are trans, thought so.

Well, technically they, the MTF trans, are men. So, yeah. Just one more example of men bullying women.

Women are, you know, women. MTF trans are really just men. Nothing "icky" about eithe one. Just apples and oranges.

Bananas. It's...bananas.

Apples and bananas.

All the laws in the world aren't really going to help in some situations. At the end of the day, unless we're all going to consent to wearing body cams at work, PROVING sexual harassment is very difficult.

Like I said. Sometimes, for some people, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze.

lol..SNL nails the real Ivanka

"When you watch Titanic, you're not Rose; you're Billy Zane."

I see that I am not the only one who sees the light.

However, this week's "SNL" featured what may have been the most cutting sketch about Trump, but this one was not about Donald -- it focused on his daughter, Ivanka. This sketch truly makes a point that many in the mainstream media won't, namely that Ivanka is complicit in her father's use of racism, sexism and bigotry to win and extend his stay in the White House.

What makes the parody so powerful is that it's not heavy handed. There are playful moments as well. For example, we see a group of well-dressed women looking at Ivanka, who then whisper to each other, "I bet when she watches 'Titanic,' she thinks she's Rose." Then adding, "Sorry girl, you're Billy Zane." (As a reminder, Zane played the villain in "Titanic" -- second only to the iceberg.)

'SNL' is right: Ivanka is complicit (opinion) - CNN.com
