Years ago, I learned my lesson about going to these joints when three sheets to the wind. But, in those days, the money was freely given and the amount was not anywhere near the price of a small house. If I remember correctly, I burned up about $500.

Well, that was then, and it certainly wasn't in some high-dollar area like SF.

Perhaps the most surprising accusation detailed in the search warrant was from a man who went to the Garden of Eden in December 2014. He told police he had already been drinking when he was offered a beer at the club, and ended up passing out soon after. When he came to, he discovered that he had been charged $90,000 on what should have been a $1,600 tab. The warrant shows that just after being charged the $1,600, his card was swiped four more times in just over an hour for the following amounts: $9,550, $11,500, $23,500 and finally a whopping $45,000. The warrant does not specify what the bills were for.

who even spends 1600 at a strip club? Jesus.

The oldest dodge in the book is "I passed out! I can't remember!"

Slick Joey goes to the titty bar. He gets treated like a king. He gets wasted. He decides he needs "VIP" services. He goes home broke. Happens all the time.

Strip clubs are kind of creepy, imho. What do I mean? Well, the idea that you're sitting there watching some girl strip with a bunch of other dudes in the room. It's just, well, creepy.

Who's stupid enough to hand over a credit card?

I imagine the crowd that strip clubs regularly attract are pretty stupid.

Use to have some lady friends who worked as waitresses and dancers at several clubs. Even worked on a bodyguard crew for dancers at a Frat house.

Personally, once I went alone one night after partying and was charged $10 bucks for a dancer to stick a nude butt in my face that I couldn't touch. That was enough for me.

One of my former friends that lived in my apartment complex in California. His tab over the course of a Las Vegas strip joint weekend could be 1,600. The tab from impulsive local jaunts could run to several hundred dollars.

The guy was intelligent, did not have a drinking problem, and though he had a good income in IT, could not afford such escapades given the SOCAL cost of living. Heck, I doubt you would swoon over him, but he was not bad looking either. Neither was he introverted, nor did he have strong personality flaws. Yet... he loved strip joints.

He loved them all equally- the high class and the creepy. I don't know if he liked being the center of attention from the "adoring" girls or what, but he gave big tips, ordered "not on special" drinks and food for himself and friends with abandon, wanted the corny "private party room" while staying for hours. I went with him to a local place once. I had not been in one in years. It was like strip joint made him high.

With a credit card, I can see it. Those girls are very good at parting you from your money...especially drunk people.

But, this here scam is exponentially higher than just some hottie pretending she likes you. I guess the clubs drugged folks and then went to town with their credit cards after they passed out.

90-Grand worth of "King" treatment. Damn, I hope he got one to at least clean his pipes.

I suppose that's the risk one takes when passing out drunk in a seedy establishment. I can't say I feel too sorry for the guy.

Well, it helps when the club slips a Mickey into your drink.

All the more reason to actually date women, rather than pay more to stare at them like a nerdy schoolboy than it would even cost for a night with a sleazy prostitute. Especially when you can do the former for free via internet porn if one is so inclined.

I don't get strip bars/clubs. Went to one in the States many years ago because the person I was visiting appeared to want to show me one, I have no idea why, maybe some kind of initiation? I just could not wait to get out, it was a cesspool of humanity.

Who the hell has $90,000 worth of credit on a credit card???

I can certainly see it happening. I made the mistake of going to a strip club in Vegas a few years back.

Within five minutes, they had me up in the VIP with the most gorgeous Puerto Rican girl I think I'd ever seen. In less than ten, she was introducing me to her cute friend and asking if it was alright for her to join us.

Forty five minutes later, I was around $800 in the hole. Thank God my bank decided to cut me off after that, and not let me withdraw any more cash, because they wanted $1200. Lord only knows where it might have gone from there if they didn't know I was "tapped out."

Moral of story: Stay the Hell out of strip clubs in Vegas, especially if you're not disgustingly rich.

I haven't been in one since 2012 or so when a good friend was going through a divorce. I took him to a place where I once knew all the girls because I dated one of them about a year before after meeting her at a regular dance club. This was back when I went clubbing pretty regularly during a spararation phase.

The stripper and I hung out together for a couple months, and her friends would party with us a lot. They are OK outside of work, but a little messed up. Most have drug issues and too many DuI to drive legally. But they were all very nice outside of work. More than once they supplied the party favors and were just happy to hang out with someone not groping them at every opportunity. The one I dated was great, but the addiction issues scared me off eventually.

Anyway, I knew them all well, but when my estranged gf who eventually became my current wife and I finally reconciled, I quit all that ****. This was maybe a year or so before my buddy's divorce. Upon entering the club, my first thought was, "Man, this is nowhere near as much fun as it used to be."

The best part though was talking to some of the girls who remembered me. They all knew I finally went back to my old gf. One even asked me what the hell I was doing there. I said that my buddy was going through a divorce. She got it and bought me a sympathy drink.

Those girls are very adept at parting you from your cash. You go in thinking, "Hell, I'll just watch a few chicks get naked and have a good time." Before you know it though, what you describe above happens, and you're blowing money like it grows on trees.

I always saw it as a booze thing. You're out drinking, someone suggests going to the local strip club. It sounds good at the time, but then the next day you stare at your CC receipts and say, "Why the hell did I do that?"

It sounds like that guy has $90,000 in debt on his credit card.

Strip clubs by very essence are a scam, they merely exist for the whims of Darwinianly inferior men who merely have to pay to stare like a virginal schoolboy, when even a John at least has to pay for full service, as pathetic as that is.

No reason society should cater to untermensh, it should encourage them to restrain their pathetic vice and become ubermensch worthy of existence.

Meh...it's usually a drunk thing. And, yes. Darwin usually wins when being drunk is in play.

Well in damn honesty the desire to stare at women who are showing one no genuine interest comes from the animal impulse to rape, so a man who has to pay to stare desperately at an easy woman is acting with the same desire and intent as a rapist, while a a powerful man doesn't have to stare, it is actually a woman who pre-selects him, and he knows the fine line between gazing and staring.

So ideally I see no reason that society should tolerate institutions, whether strip clubs, or pornography that enable the more rapacious impulse of the male psyche and encourage them to be limp-wristed ***** beggars rather than men who are actually desirable, but c'est la vie, I never underestimate the stupidity of the 'common man'.

There is a lot more going on than just "staring." And, that is why the mark typically hands over 100's if not 1000's of dollars.
