Public opinion is generally in support.

As a gay man who is currently adopting children who have been stuck in the system, I am curious as to why you feel that way.

Because it seems to me - I could be wrong of course - that there is a hint of using children as pawns in the interests of Political Correctness and minority entitlement.

Another false story from the biased media put to rest.

WASHINGTON — The White House said on Monday that President Trump would leave in place a 2014 Obama administration order that created new workplace protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

In a statement issued in response to growing questions about whether Mr. Trump would reverse the Obama order, the White House said the president was proud to embrace gay rights.

“President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of L.G.B.T.Q. rights, just as he was throughout the election,” the statement said. “The president is proud to have been the first ever G.O.P. nominee to mention the L.G.B.T.Q. community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression.”

The decision to keep the order, the statement added, was Mr. Trump’s. It uses stronger language than any Republican president has before in favor of equal legal protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, though that is not likely to quiet Mr. Trump’s critics on the left.

Get ENDA passed (already passed the senate) and then we'll talk about an accomplishment on his part. Doing nothing at this point is not impressive. Wow, he actually mentioned the word "gay", amazing

The credit goes to Obama for passing the order in the first place, which was btw a response to the republicans blocking ENDA

Either they have a home with parents who want them, or they get dumped into rotating foster homes. There is a reality here - the religious right would choose 'dump them' over a gay couple and has fought to do so. So tell me who is using them as pawns

You, and Trump, are trying to give credit where it's not due while pretending there's no work to be done. Until equality is achieved and secured, such as by passing ENDA, yes i will criticize those at the top

I could of course be wrong, but I don't think this will happen. As the first week of his Presidency has demonstrated, the Campaign Trump is very much the President Trump. Everything he said and showed himself to be is pretty much literal.

As I read somewhere, people on the Left didn't take Trump seriously but took him literally, whereas those on the Right took him seriously but not literally. The "seriously" part was settled on November 8th, and the "literally" part has been addressed. Point being, he didn't have any hostility toward gays during the campaign, so if the current trend continues he won't express any hostility toward gays in his Presidency.

You've got people protesting for the president of the United States enforcing existing immigration law, you've got Hollywood 'celebrities' ****ting themselves because...well...they are special, and you've got people protesting a Muslim ban that isnt a Muslim ban. The only controversial way I think Trump might go on this is my own position, i.e. ALL children, whether gay or straight, benefit from having a loving mom AND dad in the home. Therefore a traditional couple, man and woman, should be given preference in adoption. But if there is no traditional couple to adopt a child, then certainly single parents, including single gays, and gay couples who will love and cherish that child should not be prohibited from adopting.

If you Google "Donald Trump's executive order to target gay adoptions," a few odd "news" sources come up. Such as Heavy.com bluedotdaily.com and LGBTQ Nation as well as others I've never heard of.

This may just be anti Trump hyperbole. It isn't like it's a new thing.

I highly doubt it. I'm sure Trump did consider it, which is all the source said he would do. He's so extremely reactionary and untrustworthy that there's not necessarily much difference between him targeting lgbt in an EO and the statement they did release in the end, pretending it never even crossed his mind. There was a draft of the EO even:

Pence is anti LGBT, and I wouldn't put something like this past him considering what he tried in his state. I hope you're right, and it's not going to happen though.
