What gets me is that this started out as an innocent little joke about how the world would be if men had periods. It had nothing whatsoever to do with targeting trans people. But no. They can't seem to help themselves.

Some people just have to find offense in everything, even in something silly like this that has nothing to do with anything. I'm not even sure I can begin to understand how #ifMenHadPeroods could possibly be offensive to anyone.

I guess no one better even dream about starting a tweet thread #ifMenCouldGetPregnant. All hell would break loose.

I believe they are talking about women who identify as men and no longer see themselves as women. Even though they still menstruate like normal healthy women, they seem to think that they are men who have periods. So, as a result, this harmless joke has now become cis norm hate speech.

The world has gone insane.

No, what actually happens is that they start feeling the effects of low hormones before they take more. So yeah, it has nothing to do with a period, but with hormones and hormones alone.

It was targeting 'men' which includes some trans people. That's kinda the point. Many of those people (in the article) seemed to be simply pointing it out, rather than whining.

SJW is a made-up term. It is a set that is defined arbitrarily.

It was originally used to describe people like Gandhi or MLKJr in a positive manner. It became used as a pejorative to bash anyone who cares about social progress in any way.

That pejorative use came out of gamergate. It has added connotations that the "SJWs" don't actually care about any cause, but instead are simply being hypersensitive for personal validation.

It's a garbage term that should be torched from the zeitgeists' lexicon. Its primary purpose is to shame people for pursuing social progress.

It is very much a nonsense term. It's used to belittle anyone who cares at all about social progress. The easily offended are not the people who point out how seemingly innocuous things may be hurtful to some people, no. The easily offended are the conservatives who are offended at the very notion that their worldview is not as simple as they once believed and not everyone fits neatly in a little box, and who feel the need to hurl terms like, "SJW" around.
