Ladies: What do you find sexy about liberal guys?

Even the skinny jeans?

Please tell me you at least BBQ.

Mixed attire, some skinny most not.

Not really, no. Of course, grilling where I live is largely tricky with huge wind gusts and frigid temperatures most of the year.

But I don't associate my manhood with those activities. I never took up hunting, I don't own a firearm, haven't had the need or the desire to retool my already faded knowledge of self-defense techniques. It's all well and fine for everyone else I knew and grew up with, but it wasn't my thing. Research, policy work, and public sector bureaucratic improvements is where I focus much of my time. That and family.

I assure you though, I'm very attracted to women and not men.

Be careful, you might start liking guns.

Heh, no real danger of that happening. They are interesting and sometimes fun to use, but I'm no hobbyist and I have no intention of becoming a hobbyist, let alone some passionate advocate. Furthermore, family is central to me. In my family we tend to keep that away from the equation when dealing with folks who have behavioral or emotional difficulties or disabilities, which is the case with my brother.

I re-state for emphasis...I was joking. A female friend of mine sent me a meme with that

I think you are missing the point of the question. The question isn't asking you how much you care about their politics, but what about liberal men in general that you find attractive.

An attractive man can be liberal, conservative, anywhere in between or completely off the political spectrum.

Again, not even the point of the question. It is asking you what is it about liberal men that is attractive. It's not claiming that certain men simply can't be attractive to women.

It was my point. I don't define by political leaning, liberal or otherwise.

That's just it though, no specific thing is going to answer that question because it isn't that simple. Qualities that attract women are going to be found in all sorts of men and it likely will have little to nothing to do with their politics, even if more than just looks. I don't understand what exactly the question is. There is nothing to single out as attractive to some majority of women that is found in only or mainly liberal men, not that I know of anyway.

Liberal men seem more secure about their manhood, than conservative men...imo.

I realize how important political lean is here in our little DP bubble. But I think out in real life it is just one, small, often insignificant, attribute of a person.

Ok, but again, the question was asking you a question more along the lines of what you find appealing in terms of things like personality traits, behavior patterns, etc about liberal men. You don't need to care about political lean, but just be aware that political beliefs are a consequence of other things about the person.

I like how libertarians are most likely stoners. ;)

Do you find both of these men equally sexy? The first one (typical Liberal) is going to pick you up tonight in his Smart Car and you're going out for Sushi and a Greenpeace meeting afterwards. The second guy (typical Conservative) is coming over Saturday in his pickup truck and you're going to a steakhouse and a concert after.

I don't find men attractive but I do know this, the right has the sexiest women. I covered political meetings from one end of this country to the other and it is the same everywhere, the left wing NDP is stuck with the uglies and the fatties. The Conservative women seem to come out of magazines, especially in the way they dress.

What IS sexy is power or the appearance of power.

My my. I can taste the bitterness in the air. Seems an awful lot of 'manly' republican guys in here appear to be threatened by us 'metrosexual' liberal dudes. Almost as if you're worried women are more attracted to us. :lamo

As to my personal experience, as I get older I find more and more women are sapiosexual rather than turned on by guns and knives.

Uh... define liberal.

I generally only care that a man is "liberal" in his concept of gender equality and respect for human diversity. Why this is considered "liberal," I don't know, but it generally is when these sorts of questions are asked.

In all other matters of politics, I don't care, and I've dated men all over the map.

What is "sexy" about men who are gender-"liberal" is that they respect my opinion and agency as much as their own. Being treated decently is a turn-on. What's new?

I don't do well with men with "conservative" gender expectations, for a long laundry-list of reasons, some of which are particular to me.

- It's annoying as hell to have someone project an entire personality and life purpose onto me without any regard for who I am as an individual, which doesn't fit cleanly with American conservative "stereotypes." It's also offensive if they do it to my friends, many of whom are not "stereotypical" either.

- I am childfree and focused on my work. Obviously I'm not going to gel with an anti-choice fundamentalist who expects me to stay home.

- It's annoying as hell to be talked down to, or for a guy to expect his decisions to pull rank on mine, because penis or something.

- As an individual who also happens to be highly creative and mind-driven, I don't do well with people who expect me to conform to a laundry list of expectations in general. I'm going to do what I'm going to do.

Please provide evidence that those guys are the typical guy you find in either lean. Not only has that not been my general observation, but it is highly likely that you are simply making crap up based on your own personal bias.

Not to mention that one guy has kind eyes while the other seems to be a self absorbed show off.

Really? They're essentially girls pants being worn by a dude.

They were in style back before bell bottoms became popular. I used to wear Levis' Super Slims jeans. The cuff at the bottom was so small that it was hard to get my foot through it, in both directions.

I was only half the man that I am today (physically), so they were a good fit at the time. Today's hipsters want to claim skinny jeans as their own creation. I let them. If I mention the '60s, their eyes start to fog over.

You were a hipster before it was cool to be a hipster.
