Police Officer ?Arrests Lesbian Couple For Kissing In Public? - Yahoo News

A police officer in Hawaii is being investigated by officials after he allegedly arrested a lesbian couple who were kissing in public. Taylor Guerrero and Courtney Wilson were holidaying on the islands from Los Angeles in March this year when they stopped off at a Woodland grocery store. Officer Bobby Harrison is then said to have taken offence at the pair’s public displays of affection when they began kissing. According to a lawsuit, the pair were hugging and holding hands as they walked through the aisles, while Harrison “observed their consensual romantic contact and, in a loud voice, ordered plaintiffs to stop and ‘take it somewhere else.’”

The couple, who have been dating for two years, complied with the officer’s demands but were allegedly told they would be thrown out of the store when he saw them being affectionate again. Things soon turned physical when the pair queued up to pay for their goods, according to Guerrero. She claimed: “He was bumping his belly against Courtney. ”He said, 'you girls don’t know how to act. You don’t know the difference between a motel and a grocery store.’” Guerrero then claimed she was shoved by Harrison when she tried to defend her girlfriend and kicked him as she fell. Wilson added: “The whole situation got physical. I got punched in the face by him.” Other shoppers could only watch as shop staff restrained the couple as Harrison arrested them for assault on an officer. The pair were jailed for three days before they were released and ordered to stay in Honolulu, where they had to stay with friends and family. Their charges were eventually dropped. The Honolulu Police Department have now launched an investigation into wrongful arrest while Harrison remains on active duty. Foodland have since apologised to the couple over the incident.

I can't believe this really happened. What a terrible story.

Well that was totally unnecessary.

I fail to see how two chicks eating together, lesbian or not, should be cause for the ****show that happened next.

If you don't want to be arrested, don't assault police officers.

Of course, in the eyes of the left lesbians can do no wrong.

Umm, sure looks like this guy clearly instigated the whole thing.

Where are you seeing assault of a police officer in this story?

They were charged with assaulting a police officer, and one of them admitted to kicking the officer.

After she was shoved and in defense of her girl friend. There was no lawful arrest or detaining happening at that point so it was simply the officer committing assault.

The cop deserved to be assaulted. People have a right to fight back, defend themselves, when police act illegally.

This is a "story." It is also pretty much one-sided.

How about waiting until the whole story comes out before jumping to conclusions? Just a thought. :coffeepap

According to her.

No, I'm sorry. I don't actually have the video. I was just curious which part you were wanting to see.

Sorry. Hope you are not too disappointed.

You really do have to wonder about people, right? I would have videoed it.

You know, it is kinda surprising that nobody did in this day and age.

I know, right? Unethical, deplorable, crass, crude, rude... I can't find the word for it but people are just that obnoxious today. It'll happen, wait and see.

According to her.

According to her.

Of course. All we have to go off of is the word of the various parties. Of course it is telling that the charges were dropped against the women and now the officer is being investigated. The people making those decisions presumably have all of the pertinent information that we are not privy to.

As noted, we're only getting one side of the story here. Maybe things happened as described, and maybe they did not.

If the officer behaved inappropriately, I'm sure it'll be investigated, and dealt with accordingly.

Yes. You know a reason to disbelieve her? Does the cop contradict her?

The cop's side is not even told.

I fear that the piece of information considered most pertinent by those in charge may be "we don't want to look like homophobes so screw the officer".
