Hey so I've got a wee bit of an issue that I'm not sure how to solve.

I basically need to child proof stairs without using a gate, at least on the top for the most part, I may have to use quite a wider gate workaround it there's no other option but a Bannister sits way to low and right across the top of the stairs and my little one can climb over a gate a few inches taller than that, which basically makes the whole thing even more dangerous if he can climb over the gate and straight into the stairs.

Anyone have any interesting workarounds you think could do the job?

I can't picture it. I don't really get the "low banister".

You mean it doesn't secure the top node of the gate? I don't get how that can be.

Let me try to explain.

So, you're looking from the top of the stairs.

You've got about a 2 meter wall running left of the stairs looking over into the downstairs and solid wall running right.

The left hand wall dips down running down the stairs, is because of the angle of course shorter then the top and a handrail starts at the very top of the stairs and sits below the wall and runs all the way down, so at the very top of the stairs, it blocks the ability to put a decent height gate right at the stair entrance.

So it's a railing preventing a typical expanding gate from being placed?

Cut out a section of the gate to fit the railing?
