I use a nationally recognized CC. They began a rewards program a few years ago. We have arrived at the station in life, where we use the card in lieu of cash/check. When shopping on Amazon, it used to be a a 1-1 swap. Then Amazon started discounting the value of points at about a 25% surcharge. For example if your points were valued at 100 points they would only credit you for 75 points. If you contact the issuing bank they will send gift cards at a 1-1 exchange rate. Seems to me that the cost to the issuing bank of mailing the gift cards would offset the 25% surcharge levied by Amazon.

Anyone else run into this situation?
