It's funny to me, but my dad did the same thing. I told my ol' lady and nobody else, and, nobody yet has noticed. Odd too cuz I was a two plus pack a day smoker, and yet nobody at my work has noticed. Mind you they smoke, but I'm poor and had to stuff my own tubes to save money and they were forever complaining about tobacco crumbs and mess. Four days no smoking, emptying the ashtrays when I get here and they are still empty when I leave and NOBODY NOTICED!:lamo

It doesn't really bother me, I mean I quit for me, but I wanna see how long it takes before somebody catches on.

Good for you! Stay strong! How do you stand being around other smokers? When I finally quit, I can’t/couldn’t stand even the odors on clothes......16 years or so ago! It gets easier and taste and smell improve....

Smoking dulls the senses. Since they're smokers, they probably didn't notice the lack the lack of tobacco smell around you because it was still around them.

Good work quitting! It gets progressively easier.

I wouldn't count on current smokers being particularly supportive, in general.

If you are interested, I found a very supportive sub on Reddit r/stopsmoking that I wish I had known about when I quit.

Did you use any particular method, or just cold turkey? I used the gum myself, and it worked well for me.

Well I was gonna use nicotine gum but I don't really like it. I have this little Blu vape thing, it helps and I don't love it like I did cigarettes so I use it less than I smoked, a lot less, but it gets me through craavings, yet is not really something I'm gonna miss when it's time to stop vaping (soon). I do see it being the kind of thing to keep in the car for long drives tho, but then it could end up being tempting. I suspect when I stop vaping my ol' lady will make it disappear. Thing is, I mostly work alone so I don't have to see others smoke. I just gotta get rid of the viable snipes each day. That's the worst part, tempting to just light one. I actually pick them up and break them so I won't even be tempted to look and see if they are on top in the trash. I really wanna be done this time. I was done for 17 years once, time to do that again.

My birthday is the fifth next month, so it's sorta my birthday present to me.

Congrats! Your lungs are thanking you. All the positives from stopping.

You're never too old to quit smoking, and there are a bunch of reasons why doing it now will be one of the smartest decisions you'll ever make.

Though you've smoked for years, the benefits you'll enjoy when you quit smoking will begin within 20 minutes of your last cigarette, and the benefits grow for years to come.

You will reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke, and cancer.
Your circulation and lung function will improve.
If you have chronic bronchitis or emphysema, quitting will help stop further damage.
You'll feel physically better, have more stamina and energy, and your self-esteem will soar!

It's never too late to quit smoking.

Good on yah for stopping mate, when I was younger I was an utter idiot, still am.

But the one thing I did do was stop smoking, I did the whole rebellious teen thing and smoked on and off between 14, 15, 16 and then was able to stop without much fuss.

Even has a few since then when I’ve been wasted and it’s never made me take it back up.

It’s a good decision mate, don’t stop stopping.

Part of the success of quitting smoking is the mental mind game. In addition to being off cigarettes...the effects of which should COMPLETELY leave your system within a week at the most...it is important to self identify as a non-smoker and not as someone trying to quit. Smokers that are trying to quit identify first and foremost as smokers-that are trying to quit. Non smokers dont smoke. It may seem like a little thing but it is very effective.

Blu aren't very powerful at all, try a Juul and you'll find quitting easier.

If you want to get fancy, go to a vape shop and get a custom one. But the Juul will be enough.

IDK it's a new Blu with a tank not a cotton soaked batting. It produces a lot of vapor. The regular (which was my tobacco preference), makes my throat itch so I opt for menthol. It's a lot like a menthol cigarette but just not quite. I'm banking on that "not quite" making it much easier to quit, but for now I can already feel the vaping (being at most 1/3 as often as smoking, is much less harmful on the lungs, so I'm not gonna worry about it for a bit. It's also cheaper.

Congrats on quitting. That's awesome.

Heh.

My now-wife didn't notice when I quit until I told her, which was odd, because I went through 1-2 packs a day (hard to gauge since a lot was rolling tobacco. Cheaper, and it was good practice for joint-rolling). But I had done it during a vacation my parents had invited me out to the Cape for (she was working; couldn't take off). My parents didn't notice either, oddly enough.

Good luck.

Cold Turkey in the hardest way possible was what worked for me, but I suppose it's not for everyone. A few weeks of constant mental battle, and then the addiction went off and ****ed itself. I have absolutely no desire to smoke now. But weirdly, every once in a blue moon, I have a dream in which I go buy a pack. I don't want it when I wake up. But it seems to have left a few weak hooks.

Red:
They got what they wanted -- no "crumbs and mess" -- which, frankly, doesn't seem an unreasonable thing for them to desire in the workplace, particularly if it's an office-like environment. I can't imagine why they'd give a damn how or why the "crumbs and mess" you deposited about are gone.

Perhaps they figured you just bothered to figure out and implement some tactic(s) so as to not make/leave the mess as you previously did. If I stopped seeing the mess, before I posited that you'd stopped smoking, I'd think you've found some way to make your cigs without making a mess. And given how simple such a thing surely is, I wouldn't, unless you're an teenager, have anything to say about your doing so. After all, adults shouldn't need overt notice for doing what they ought to have been doing in the first place....And being tidy at work as go one's personal effects is, IMO, one of those things expected of adults.

Blue:
You may have a rather long wait. Your colleagues may not care enough to remark upon or ask about whether you have or haven't stopped smoking.

To wit, many folks don't want one to smoke around them, but they don't give a damn that one smokes. I won't let folks smoke inside my houses, but they can smoke outdoors or in the garages, provided they don't leave butts on the ground/floor.

In any case, that your coworkers haven't said something may not mean they haven't noticed. It could, for instance, mean they don't see it as something to talk about.
