In the United States in 2015, about 33,000 people died from falls.
"More patients go to emergency rooms in the United States after falling than for any other form of injury."
The most dangerous spots include shower stalls (PLEASE use traction strips or mats), supermarket aisles (if I see spilled liquid, I would immediately inform the manager), and stairways.
Please use the handrails in stairways (most people do not).
Don't have your hands in your pockets.
Remember that "your balance can also be thrown off by a heavy suitcase or backpack."
Protect your head. The key is "to roll and try to let the fleshy side parts of your body absorb the impact."
(I have noticed, however, that on those occasions when I have fallen, I did not have time to remember the "key.")
