Hello friends,
I would like to share with you something weird that happened to me during my little 30 day break.
I got Bell's Pasly.

It is when one side of your face gets numb and saggy like you had a wisdom tooth pulled but it never comes back.
You drool on the side that is affected and have trouble even keeping you eye closed when sleeping.
Sometimes tears drip down your face uncontrollably.
It was like i had no control of anything on the left side of my face. Even the tongue had no taste on its left side.

Generally it is only temporary and I got mine on 6/29 and it went away on 7/10.
I still have a throbbing vein under my skull on the same side that is very painful, but it goes away temporarily with two Excedrin.
I feel lucky.

So, after isolating three things that could have caused it, I quit consuming all three.

Now here is the weird part.
I made a sausage potato skillet with poblano peppers in it and it started to come back.
It came back weakly for two days then went away again.
I think this particular batch of poblanos might have been sprayed with something toxic.
I have had them many times in the past with no issue.
To prove it, I took a teaspoon of them and sauteed them in a skillet and gobbled them up.
Sure enough, I could feel my face start to sag as before.

I still have the peppers in the freezer and am considering notifying whoever I need to about them.
As it only affected me, I am not sure what they could do. Three other people eat the same dish i cooked with no problems at all.

Thoughts?

It's an interesting idea. My mother in law is convinced it's caused by going to bed with wet hair. Her aunt used to suffer with the symptoms occasionally and that seemed to be a trigger (for her).

I had Bell's in high school 25+ years ago (right side) and I can still feel the difference sometimes. I guess I had a mild case, as I was always able to close both eyes, but it still sucked.

I'd heard it was related to cold somehow, and impacts truck drivers, generally on the left side, theoretically because they drive with the window down.

My thought is it sounds like symptoms of a stroke, and you should see a doctor.

Went to the ER today and did not have good news.
It was Friday the 13th, so......
The up side is, I can throw caution to the wind now and eat and do whatever i want.

Sorry to hear.

It is what it is.
I am on the first stage right now, so meh...
I think with me, the first stage and the last stage are the same.

I stopped at the grocery store on my way home from the ER and found some Blue Bell ice cream called " Groom's Cake ".
Chocolate ice cream with pieces of chocolate cake, chocolate coated strawberry hearts, and strawberry swirls all in it.
I also got a 48 piece package of Pop-Tarts.

There comes a time you just don't care anymore.

I would get a brain scan if I was you. My mother was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy and about several months later he had to have a brain tumor removed and was diagnosed with cancer.

They did. and yes.
That is why I am eating whatever the hell i want to.

What is the prognosis? If you feel comfortable sharing

I would not mind sharing, but I just know if I did, there would be some here that would laugh and troll anything i might say and make light of it.
I thank you for your concern, but I hope you understand it needs to remain private.
Suffice to say I will be given meds and injections to make me comfortable as there is nothing they can do otherwise.
I am getting a severance at work and will remain at home.

Thank you, again.

Sorry to hear that and wish you as good a time as you can have for as long as you can.

I'm so very, very sorry to hear this. If you make a thread in The Tavern, no one will be allowed to troll or ridicule, and nothing you say can be used anywhere else on the site. We used to have a thread where people discussed medical and other issues, and it worked out very well. I hope you'll do this, so others can freely offer their support, condolences and prayers.
