Product: Bug-a-Salt fly killin' shotgun

Purchased: Mother's day gift for 75 y/o woman. Ace Hardware for roughly $41

Purpose: Strict novelty use. If it works, fun way to blast flys and other bugs.

Result: Just got a call from mom. She located a fly and decided to try the sucker out. Target was annoyingly present on the screen in front of the window over the sink. Concern was messy salt cleanup after blasting the fly. Bottom line, dead fly, next to no mess. If mom didn't find enough salt to clean up it couldn't have been too messy. Fly was confirmed to be "dead as a door nail".

Her initial concern was that it was a little difficult to **** but we practiced a little and she got the hang of it right away. She was also concerned about significant salt contamination of the kitchen but it shoots, literally, about 50 grains of salt (not grains as in weight but grains as in particles of salt). This was her first attempt on a live target and the result was, apparently, good enough to warrant a phone call.

Video review is a generic grab off YouTube. Reviewer is not related to me in any way.

For what it's worth, an aerosol can of hairspray will work in a pinch.

This was a highlight of the week at the condo in Universal Studios in Florida earlier this year.

The flamethrower approach may be a little much for mom to handle but yes, it does work.

Based on her level of enthusiasm, I'm probably going to get myself one too.

No, no need to flame them, just give 'em a quick spray.

It immediately impedes their mobility, essentially cocooning them. They soon die, I believe from the toxicity, but regardless they no longer can move even while still alive.

And it only takes a small shot of spray. It's really effective!

You lost me. Why use highly flammable aerosols without lighting them on fire? What's the fun in that?
