Has anyone here ever used this thing? I set up the account, uploaded the necessary files then "shared" them with the intended recipient by plugging in his email address. Is that all I need to do? Does he get a notification that he's allowed to see the files or do I need to send something else?

You did everything right. You're all set. There's also a way to torrent large files (it's not just for pirating) but I never needed to learn how.

He should get it, but it's just a pop up in teh corner. He can review the dropbox folder at any time. I would follow up with an email so he knows.

If you look in your file explorer, you should be able to find a 'DropBox' folder. Any file that you copy or move into this local folder is also replicated to the DropBox could, providing you have the space on your account (can buy more if needed).

Never really used it, other than it being a major thing as part of my volunteering work at one time (where resource files for IT and design work were there).
