It's a free health club plan sponsored by many health plans for people over 65.

My dumb ass AARP advantage plan does not have it, but many plans do. I got my wife on, and my son's father in law has been on for a while. You fill out the form on line:

I thought I'd pass this gem along to others in the hope they may save a few bucks.

Cheers.

Yes, the HMO I am part of offers it as well. Pretty sweet benefit that I'll be sure to use when I'm eligible.

Many of the United Health Care plans( Anything you see from AARP is UHC) are now offering "Optum Fitness". It is essentially the same thing and is widely accepted. Plans very from state to state, Generally speaking the a Complete Plan 2 has either no premium or is around 20 bucks a month (plans can vary from county to county). In WA where I sell Medicare, UHC offers the P2 as a zero premium plan in many counties. But it does not include the fitness plan. You have to upgrade to the Plan 3. That plan is 56.00. Are you new to Medicare by chance? If you are also on Medicaid you may qualify for a no cost plan that includes the fitness plan end many other valuable benefits such as dental, free health care products, hearing aids, a Philips Lifeline system and more. Or if you are getting Extra Help from Social Security, you may qualify for a reduced premium on the Plan 3 (usually 50% less).

If you are new to Medicare you may be able to change plans now. We are in the annual disenrollment period presently. 1/1 to 2/14.

In any case you are better off with a good agent. Agents get paid every year you stay on the Plan. And good ones can be great advocates for you.

I have a few relatives in the Silver Sneakers program and they enjoy it...mostly the swimming exercises and dance.

I checked again and got conflicting answers, and it’s too late. But the wellness option was not among the options. AFAIK. IOW, the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing.

If you are an enrolled agent in California next year, shoot me a PM!

We have a silver sneakers program in our area, but there is no gym membership involved. It's just a group of older people who get together and walk. It's sponsored by a local hospital system, but I really don't know what he hospital has to do with it.
