Why can't we delete all in the junk folder? You can select all, but they can only flag or mark as read. Anyone know a work-around?

Yes it sucks, but which junk folder? If you are using the mail program to access yahoo/hotmail/Outlook/Gmail, then there are multiple.

I have my outlook account as the email icon at the bottom of the home screen. Oh, God! I would be so grateful!

Dump the iPad email and use the Outlook one in the app store.. much better. In fact it is highly recommended by a lot of sites. Problem solved, as it is directly locked into your account, where as the iPad POS is not and makes its own folders (including a junk one) on top of those being imported from Outlook.

Edit -> Mark All -> as Read

Then they should automatically delete

I tried this, and unless it takes some time, that isn't working. I do appreciate the suggestion.

I downloaded outlook for iPad and the add new account page, first one up, is greyes out. Went to the Mail program in settings thinking I could delete the account, it there isn't that option. Maybe I could delete the whole mail app, but I'm afraid to do that. Holding up to see if Cigar's suggestion works.

Thank you! (I hate deleting things as important as my email.)

Don't know the exact steps, no Junk in folder to try again.

But I'm sure you have mark them all read and then I thought they eventuality dissipated.

Go to your settings and look at your email. There should already be an outlook account. This account should automatically show in your Outlook for iPad.

Junk usually gets deleted after 30 days.

Called Apple support. They said there was no way to do it. Downloaded another browser. No luck.

I've been on this problem for months because I rarely, if ever, use my laptop anymore, but had to use it to empty junk. So, being the stubborn person I am, I Googled until I FINALLY found the answer. Thought I'd pass it on...

Click Edit. Mark all as Read. Click Edit Again and check mark the first email in the folder. Select Move with one hand, and while holding on it, use your other hand to uncheck the one email you checked. It will then select all and you can Trash them. Bingo!

And Apple Support didn't know this??

Well...they are only drones that are not allowed to deviate from a script.

Also to be fair, I finally understand what you were on about and yes the way you did it, is the correct way, but compared to other apps.. boy it is difficult. A simple button.. like others have, would have done the trick Apple.

I knew I was able to do it, I just didn't remember how I did it. :lamo

So stand on one leg, stick your tongue out and roll your eyes. ... and Bingo

What is reallynridiculous is that, with all their updates, they never corrected this oh-so-inconvenient truth. I'm glad you understood. When you can't easily dump junk in an email program, its archaic, to say the least.

And now to give credit to the guy who found the work-around.

Back in the day, there was a famous list made on what to do during a nuclear attack. It went step-by-step with things like...

Get to shelter immediately.
If you have a basement, gather your entire family there.
if in school, shelter in your classroom under your desk.
On and on it went...

Until the last step... "Now, quickly bend over and kiss your ass good-bye.

THIS reminds me of THAT.

Edit...found it.

I usually log into icloud from the computer, mass delete that way and then sync the app.

I was using my laptop...the only thing I use it for these days. It was a pain.

You know, if you have an unused computer, you can make a decent side income hosting servers for video games on it.

Like go to steampowered.com and pick a popular multiplayer game, walk through the steps to host a dedicated server for that game, and you can pull in a couple hundred bucks a month. I do it on my old computer, I don't even play the three games I'm hosting servers for.

And it's not as techy as it sounds, they really made the setup user friendly.

I recommend Minecraft to start with, you can bank alot by putting mods on the server and offering monthly subscription to access some the perks of the mods. Like with mine if you want flying in survival, you pay me 3 bucks a month.
