I am grateful to everyone who expressed his/her sympathy to me . As I have said, "I can walk, I can function, and I can communicate" and I have a PhD in Math. I said that I can not work over 10 hours a week, but I would be happy to get a job for 15 hours a week, $10-$12 per hour, hopefully working from home. That would involve working above my ability, but that may be feasible.

Driving a car is an absolute impossibility.

I don't drive (legally) and do OK by doing (self-employed) handyman and lawn maintenance work. Can you rake leaves, mow/trim grass and trim shrubbery and/or trees? You would likely make more than your hourly minimum (I get at least $15/hour) and you can work as few (or as many) jobs as you care to within walking distance (my girlfriend drives me to some jobs). Your math seems a bit weak by wanting to get paid for 15 hours/week and only wanting to work for 10 hours/week though. ;)

Have you considered such online possibilities as various areas of IT or teaching math classes?

Math is a broad field. What would be your ideal job?

I can work 15 hours a week -- working above my capability.

Ease into it, work as much or as little as you feel comfortable with - you may find that getting stuff done well and getting paid for it is not that a bad of a deal after all.

Do you have any links?

Apparently tutoring can be quite lucrative. I know of two people who stopped selling insurance to tutor. I don't know if they're still doing that...

Twitch is one of those things where it takes a long time to build up a base, and you definitely shouldn't do this expecting to actually make money. If you just enjoy playing videogames and expect nothing in return then there's no reason why you shouldn't. The best streamers invest a lot of equipment to make sure they're producing high quality broadcasts. So don't even go into this unless you just enjoy playing videogames and expect no return...

For me working 15 hours a week is like a horse working at 1.5 horsepower -- very hard but possible.

Or a combination. twitch has channels where you could stream math instruction. that could be a side thing.
I would see if you could tutor a few kids. with phd credentials you could get a lot more than 10-15 an hour.

Where do you live? I have a special needs guy that I use for scrapping out and other mundane chores on some of my jobs. He got ****ed up pretty bad in Afghanistan. (brain) His wife checks in with me every couple weeks to see if I have anything for him, or have the time to just go have coffee with him. He feels like the world is passing him by these days. He's still a witty guy and can be coached along on the jobs where I have plenty of leeway with time.

I am working on a lot of my veteran contractor friends to do the same with him.

Check out the accredited online colleges for an adjunct position. I don't know where you live, but there is SUNY online college - Empire State College that's part of SUNY (State University of New York) and they have adjuncts from all over the world. Even if you just do 1 course a semester.

What was the last regular paying job you had? how many hours per week did you work?
